this episode is amazing but you nailed it how funny it is when very embroiled in france, jean luc's accent omg
Charlotte Hammond
yeah it makes sense in hindsight

also, after seeing this a bajillion times... the use of color. omg. picard wears tan or blue or green - all the lower colors- but not red until he goes home. guinen and worf's mom in purple talking about prune juice. robert picks flowers that match marie's pink dress. it is so well done . edit: lewis (louis?) ocean guy wears blue and talk to picard when he is also wearing blue.

Whatever you guys end up doing, at this point I have come to enjoy. So I don’t say anything anymore, just enjoy the ride. It always works out for good, or you guys make an adjustment to things. Appreciate it!

This is an episode I appreciated a lot more when I got older. 11 year old me didn't appreciate it when it first aired. Picard breaking down after the fight is a powerful moment.

Nope, all going to be one video
Sam Langanke
So you don't split it in three parts anymore?

One of my favorite episodes of TNG. It didn't make the edit, but I loved the comedic beat of "There's just one thing I don't understand... you were always such a rotten swimmer, Louis." It never fails to make me smile, esp. seeing Patrick Stewart's huge grin. Also, I find it hilarious that almost every French character has a British accent (the holographic characters in "We'll Always Have Paris" don't count). Given Gallic pride in their language, it amuses me to think that the linguistic shift over several hundred years turns them English. BTW, Wolf 359 is a real star, and IIRC the 4th closest one to Earth/Sol. So the Borg incursion happened right in our backyard, cosmically speaking.

Brent Spiner makes up for not being in this episode very soon.

I see "Family" as the third part of "The Best of Both Worlds".
Ron Hubbard Jr
I think this episode established the "personal" continuity of the individual characters that Trek has been known for ever since.
Ron Hubbard Jr
This episode finally established that O'Brien is an enlisted crew member, not an officer. His rank is the same as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7) in the US Navy.

If Season 4 had a single theme, "family" would definitely be a contender.
Ron Hubbard Jr
Thirty-five years of hindsight really makes some of these TNG episodes even more significant.
Ron Hubbard Jr
Continuity definitely becomes a thing in season 4.

By the time the punch comes we were all ready to punch Robaire

Yah my French roommate would just start cooking dinner the same time I went to bed.... wtf it's 10pm

"...and you want to be my latex salesman."
Darin Wagner
A milestone. The first time a Star Trek show got a fourth season.
JD Nevesytrof
I kind of wanted a huge obvious ADR of Josh going "REWRITER'S ROOM" over the mention of "Gripes and Groans" in the discussion
Lou Trek
It is common in France to eat dinner at 8PM or even later.

Watching family with the family! Fitting!
Bagofsoup
Haven't watched yet. Waiting to get home and watch with the family. We give you guys a hard time sometimes, but thanks for the hard work!
Kurt Linke
You guys should take into account Jack Crusher didn’t know these were the last and only words he’d get to say to his son. It’s basically in what he assumed would be many video birthday cards. Also, is there anything more Klingon than having been raised in Russia?

Oops

Time for some hot Picard on Picard mud fight action

Hit play and…nuthin 🥺
