So the dad said "if he's not aboard in 5 minutes". Sometimes the alien species says "you have 1 of your earth hours" noting that it's not how they keep time, but the are using the earth unit of measure. I wonder why it's written both ways? Considering that our year, days, hours are based on Earth's orbit and rotation, of course no other species would use them.

This episode can be described as a slow burner, especially coming off of the last several episodes of this new season; however, it is also an important moment for Picard to start learning about how he can be a father figure. There are several characters that Picard comes across that you haven't even met yet that need Picard to become what he does (Yes, that includes Wesley lol) and his slow growth into that figure is moved along with this episode.

I agree with Josh. Just a boring episode. Certainly watchable. I gave it a C too. Btw, whoever is doing your theme songs is really killing it.

I'm usually the guy who says he loves every episode, but this one is a big MEH for me. Maybe I've seen it too many times, idk. I enjoy the stuff with Picard and Jono, and the stuff with Endar, but it's all kinda lame. Not my fave episode.

Charlie's Illiteracy

Solid Picard episode, great Troi stuff, and Wesley thankfully barely appeared. Excellent performance by Jono's alien Dad. Jono himself was a bit stiff, but he comes from a warrior culture after all--essentially he's a human Klingon. I think this one squeaks into an A.

Good performances all round for me. I think the young performer did well with his material. The main missed opportunity for me was missing out on Worf having almost exactly the same back story as the kid not being used.
