Tbh it’s the writing and the ideas which motivate me most too ❤️
Mike Spalding
The artwork is great. But the ideas are what draw me.

🙏🙏 Thank you for your support to do this. Honestly, having an output like this for me is such a lifesaver.

I would prefer neither extreme outcome from our existence but I love Weeds of Earth any way. Thanks for continuing to deliver such excellent work in such a condensed form.

Haha! Brilliant! But I need a darker ending! Maybe they become so distinct that they no longer recognise one another and begin consuming each other? Von Neumann war!

I like the idea that a fleet of Von Neumann machine start off homogenous, but because they have to harvest whatever materials they can find around a billion different stars, and after as many years, the galaxy is full of a 1000 distinct species of machine life. The twist: it works and things are better, yay

I read in a comic when i was a kid that you “can always trust a man who tucks his shirt into his underpants”. I live by this credo. Tho not with jumpers. Cause I’m not a monster.

Thank you Nea. It’s hard sometimes to write these stories, not just because of the dark themes, but because of how little space I have to make my point - and by how much I have to leave out as well - I often feel like I’ve ended up missing the point entirely! So it’s lovely to have such a thoughtful response from you. Anyway thinking about the themes in this comic has pushed me down another avenue as well, so I’ve actually now written a sequel of sorts - which i plan to start drawing soon.

Don't be a tucker!

“..until the curious experiment of mind drowns in its own bile “ - I feel deeply about this one, the overwhelming signal to noise ratio, the pace of expansion faster than any attempt of sense making, the perception of being overwhelmed whilst realistically this whole shared reality it more volatile than anything that came before - from knowledge carved in stone, to paper, to even less durable components, I can’t help but stand both in awe and despair whilst feeding the shared illusion turns out to be all-consuming addiction. Thank you for creating these, making me think and feel - that’s the level of depth I want to be able to transfer trough my art one day too 🖤

Well I mean, that’s me in a nutshell, right 😅😅
Scott Base
Thanks Phil! Yeah I love the idea of Von Neumann machines and really want to do a story with them if I can find a new angle on them
Scott Base
Thanks Amit! It was fun exploring the idea, and particularly fun strangling poor defenceless aliens 😅
Amit Ungar
Wonderful as always. I loved that twist in the middle, and the image of the roots tangling that poor creature. Absolutely fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻
Phil Lee
Reminds me of Von Neumann machines. Great comic! I particularly like the image of the creature being overrun with plant roots.
Leland
Well that was depressingly inspirational. Good job!

Thank you Manny! I wanted to explore some stuff I'd been thinking about lately. And how I wish this was the kind of challenges our species was thinking about, instead of TikToks about how to tuck in a jumper properly, or how to better brutalize each other around the world. Having said that, I have no idea how to tuck in a jumper properly.
Manny Espinosa
Amazing as always
