Dream bigger
🕑 Added 2024-10-16 06:22:21 +0000 UTCHere's a quick share of some artwork that didn’t quite make the grade for my last comic, Weeds of Earth.
The problem with drawing this comic was that it was really all about illustrating a bunch of fairly abstract concepts. A process which I think is best captured by one of my all-time favourite memes below.

So really, I'm only sharing these drawings so you can feel my pain. I'm so sorry.
Anyway, a new comic is underway - I'll share a sneak peek with you in a few days!

I appreciate it! 😄Will send it to you!

Wow - I’d love to see it when it’s ready

Yeah, I get that. It's a bummer either way. But at least the good art you can keep gor later, right? Maybe it will fit somewhere at *some* point 😅🤞🏻 I draw as well! Mostly cartoonish stuff, but trying to get more seriously into comics and sequential art as well 🙂 (some stuff online that are short... Working on something larger these days with hopes of posting it in a week or two 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻) You're a huge inspiration really! 🙌🏻

Thanks Amit! Yeah it can be a frustrating process, which I’m sure you get. I’m not sure which is worst - chucking away art you’re actually happy with, but that doesn’t fit the narrative, or when you can tell it’s not working and then still spend hours trying to fix it, all to no avail. What kind of work do you do Amit?

Love those. Love seeing yhe process! The first image with the wheat field really gives me "Tales from the Loop" vibes, which I absolutely love. That woman with the chimp has this sort of smug smirk about her... Very appropriate for a humanity that wants to generously spread life through a "dead" universe in my opinion. Love the other two as well, I can see why you scrapped and redid the asteroid frame. While this one is beautiful, the final one does have a trander scale to it. Also what Ben said: it's afmirable that you're willing yo let go of something you worked so hard on in favor of another version. As a fellow artist, I can relate. It's really hard sometimes, but SO worth it when you crack these frames the proper way.

Thanks Ben. I actually don’t mind doing it, it’s much like crossing out a poorly chosen word. Albeit a word that has taken you 6 hours to draw. 😅

Omg. That’s unsettling. I LOVE IT.

Something about that last image, the stretch of rocks with the distant point of light, evokes a mass grave for me. Makes me think of all the life snuffed out indiscriminately by humanity in their self serving expansion.

I mean, these are all better than I could ever dream of doing. I admire your commitment to throw away good stuff and try to do better.

Oh yeah, you’re right! That is what I was going for 🤣 Then I was like, “too judgy!” Ah, it’s all coming back.

I feel like I'm being harshly judged by the woman in the second slide lol. Always love to see the process!
