small point, but I love the insight that words can have different meanings to different people. The word Doctor having double meaning of healer/warrior, and then River/Pond and Melody/Song.

Red Hunter

That was hilarious! Also, let’s not forget what ‘Sexy’ said back in The Doctor’s Wife.... that the only water in the forest is the river and that they’d need to know that 😀

Jason Faria

Props to Katrina for being awesome about managing spoilers. It is really fricken hard!

Jason Faria

Greatest reaction ever. I love Paulas reactions.

Benjamin

Best Paula reaction EVER!! I'm so glad she didn't get there earlier than she did! we absolutely ****ed Paula up with this episode! Also it brings context to the meeting between River & Rory earlier, to see her father

Daniel Reynolds

Doctor who is such a fucking good show! Spot on! Only way I'm now telling people about this show! And Matt Smith is totally MY Doctor and I started on season 1 (Eccleston) with the odd bit of old Who! Capaldi is like a close second only because Matt came first! EDIT: I can't believe I didn't even comment on what a beautiful reaction this was, I had to watch the last ten minutes twice, one with Paula and one with Katrina. So well done!

Ben King

To quote my first Doctor - Fantasic!

Jonny Moonsliver

This is the episode that proved Moffat's writing style is worth it to me. As much as he jerks you around and plays with your emotions, he does craft arcs that far more often than not, pay off. But he also plays the long game. There are things in this episode that don't pay off until the last season of Matt Smith's run. And some that don't pay off till near the end of Capaldi's. But they all do eventually. :)

Darren Withers

Yup. "Utopia", "The Sound Of Drums" and "Last of the Time Lords". Some people also consider Season 4 to be a 3 parter including "Turn Left" as part of the finale with "The Stolen Earth" and "Journey's End", but I'm not so sure about it. I'd say that's a judgement call.

Steven morgan

Paula’s reaction was just like mine as I also figured it out just before the show told me. It was brilliant, than, you Kat for that I point and laugh at archaeologist bit as I never noticed it before. Also just to let you know this is the episode where Matt Smith became my nu who Doctor. Sylvester is my classic doctor and they both are my doctors. Thank you for a great reaction I have literally been waiting all week. Love you both

Travis Starnes

This is, quite possibly, the best reaction on this channel so far. The show throws in some serious twists, but not since the Master showed up has Paula melted down after the reveal, and this time it was just into hysterical laughter. I've been waiting for this reaction, and I was not let down.

Christine Ester

That Reaction Paula is everything that I have ever wanted! :)

Travis Starnes

I feel pretty much the same.

Brandon Scott

Yeah I’d love to hear that too. Seemed like it was the “Language of the forest” line. Maybe she connected the “the only water in the forest is the river” because of the “there’s no word for ‘pond’ in the language of the forests” line? Would live to know if I’m right.

John

Now that we have that bombshell episode done, I'm really looking forward to next week's for reasons which will be explained later.

LaRoy Murrell

I've been WAITING to see this reaction and Paula losing her mind did not disappoint!

Opti_Frog

Holy hell Kat, you were holding in your emotions so much you were actually trembling! And Paula getting angry at the fake baby reveal was so funny XD

paulh7791

Been waiting for this one!!

Firefly24601

Kat, I know Paula doesn't usually read comments on Who reactions, so could you ask her how she realized River was the baby? What her thought process was, how it clicked, and what triggered it?

Firefly24601

Gooood catch, I'd not noticed that before. The Doctor didn't look at the cot, he looked at the leaf down by his hand!

Firefly24601

I certainly didn't see it myself, when I first watched this ep. I've only ever seen one reactor go "The river? like River Song?"

Brandon Scott

I actually did go back and watch it twice from the Doctors realizing that they had taken the baby until the end. Totally worth a second run through just to focus on their faces. Haha

Brandon Scott

Ok, first, we broke Paula! Lmao 😂 Second, the writing on the side of the “cot” was a red herring. If you’ll notice, when River takes the Doctors hand, places it on the cot and says, “I am telling you,” they are directly beside the cot before it cuts to Amy who looks down at it AND THEN we cut back to a close up on the head of the cot where we see the writing. It was Amy who saw that writing, not the Doctor. He was looking in the cot at the cloth the whole time. With that out of the wya, I was waiting for this episode for sooooo long! And you guys did not disappoint! I absolutely loved Paula’s reaction to the revelation and I love that it came right after River said the word “Forrest”. Because, as TARDIS said to Rory just before she dies, “the only water in the forest is the river.” (I just love how well moffet was able to string these storylines together so seamlessly. Love you guys.

Malcolm Wolf

I feel like I have been holding my breath for this moment for years since I first saw you both start on Dr Who. So glad it was not spoiled. :-)

Stephen Ray

Series 3 ended on a three-parter. Loved the reaction

LatePaul

FWIW I don't love the ASMR thing, but as long as you don't do the whole episode that way I'll cope I guess. :)

LatePaul

Love this episode. Loved your reaction. "The only water in the forest is the river".

Amy Chlebus

Don't be afraid to watch the classic episodes. You just might end up liking some of the classic Doctors. Like I said in my post, I have favourites from both classic and new. 😀

michael mccafferty

Paula's reaction was worth every penny of this subscription and then some. That was sooo much fun to watch!

Jeff Seely

I'm really glad no one spoiled this for Paula. For me, this was as big as that huge TNG season 1 moment we didn't want spoiled for Katrina.

John

Weird is good.

Jay Willis

River is just a badass character from the get go, and then to reveal several seasons after her introduction that she's Amy & Rory's daughter, and part Time Lord, and to write it in a way that very few see it coming is just *chef's kiss*. Seriously though, watching this i'm just like "Don't figure it out, Paula!" and then she figures it out when most do, seconds before Amy & Rory are told. Golden. Personally this is my favorite reveal in the entire Who series (granted I never watched the old ones). Matt Smith is my personal favorite Doctor (and yes, I watched Seasons 1-4 first, lol). When watching Tennant i always say "Maybe he is my Doctor." and then I watch some Matt Smith from seasons 6-7 and reaffirm it's Matt.

Colin 3of5

Do I need to repeat the question

Amy Chlebus

I have favorite Doctors, from classic and new Who. Having seen as much as humanly possible, my favourite classic doctors are Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, and my favourite new Doctors are Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi. I am one of the few who prefers Moffatt's writing style because I prefer programs to have story arcs through the seasons. I am always one of the weird ones anyway. Lol

Colin 3of5

Amy screaming for Rory when the avatar turns to what it turns into, always gets to me. It's a horrific moment.

John

My absolute favorite reaction to River's reveal was by "justsoshayla." She totally didn't see it coming and as the prayer leaf translates, you see her eyes go wide, a little head shake of disbelief, then the realization sinking in. You could see the entire thought process play out on her face.

John

A fair point, and he did try to side step it a bit by saying "you gave them a very big head start and they've been working very hard on it since..."

george waterman

Best. Reaction. Ever😂

John

When you meet River for the Crash of the Byzantium, the soldiers guarding River were the same sect of religious soldiers that were with the Headless Monks. Also, at the museum where the Doctor finds that cube that River carved "Hello Sweetie" into, he mentiones it's the "final resting place of the Headless Monks." I really loved the Doctor's remark, "Good men don't need rules..." It was at that point I realized the good man going to war wasn't the Doctor, it was Rory. Moffet did a really good job keeping the twist a secret. He let everyone stay preoccupied with guessing whether or not the little girl in the space suit was Amy and Rory's daughter so they didn't see the final twist coming.

Doug C

One other big observation that shouldn’t be overlooked: at the end of The Doctor’s Wife, just three episodes ago, Rory asks the Doctor what the TARDIS could have meant by “the only water in the forest is the river, she said I’d need to know that someday.” They told us just three episodes ago and NOBODY sees it. I love that so much!! Great reaction. Thanks for doing these!

Firefly24601

What a difference a week makes!

Firefly24601

Wait. Did Paula watch The Almost People, A Good Man Goes to War, and Let's Kill Hitler, all in one sitting??? She's going to questioning reality by the end of this binge session... :)

Scribbles

Good, good episode, BUT... I hate the claim that River's part Time Lord just because her parents banged on the TARDIS. That's not how Time Lords are made. And the claim that Time Lords were made through exposure to the Vortex is BS. They were made through genetic engineering over a long, long time. I don't mind Moffat adding new stuff, but when he alters stuff that's been around for years, it's frustrating. I just wish they'd have done it a different way than retconning.

marko

Well done everybody in keeping this spoiler from Paula. Her reaction was priceless.

Firefly24601

YAAAAAAAASSSS, KAT!!!! Arguably the biggest, most easily spoiled spoiler of New Who, successfully unspoilt! :) That was probably one of the most amazing and unique reactions to the River Song reveal I've seen. Just... breaking to the point you just start laughing uncontrollably, I've never seen that reaction before. I was so focused on Paula's fantastic reaction, I didn't catch Kat's. I'll have to watch that part again, I imagine Kat was on pins and needles with anticipation. Pretty sure i was rocking back and forth, fiddling with my fingers as the moment approached. :D Oh and also, STRAX!!!!

Scott Archibald

The angry speech is the best part of this episode over everything else.

John

I'm so pumped for this episode! This is like one of the big Season 3 of TNG episodes that I'm just comping at the bit to see your reactions! And Rory's transformation from bumbling side kick to superhero is complete! Paula mentioned this being a big episode for being in the middle of the season. Originally this season aired in 2 parts. This was the finale of the first half of the season and there was a break before the 2nd half started.

John

It's not that I don't like ASMR, it's that the way most people do it it sounds like a shouted whisper. You guys don't do that.

WhoIamisme

Time travel is great, notification went off at 17.00 gmt instead of 18.00 bst. 😬
