Benjamin

the Hello Benjamin bit makes me laugh every time, because of the obvious

Hi Bruce I’m using updated ClipGrab to download all previous Wave videos.

When Katrina was talking about how horrific it was when the Melody/River avatar Amy was holding turned to mush. When Amy screamed she screamed for Rory NOT the Doctor.

A lot of people say Moffat is too much about being clever and not enough about the emotional crux, I don’t mean to be rude to those people but I can’t help think that he was too clever for them and they missed the emotional crux in the confusion, I love Paula watching Moffat, because he’s only clever enough for her to be a step or so behind. Watching her piece the pieces together is great fun.

This is a sort of episode that only exists in the Moffat era: Short on plot, almost all character development. I like it more and more, everytime i watch it. I'm really glad he didn't try to include this pivotal moment in River history in a monster-of-the-week episode.

Bruce Bromley

I loved when Paula mentioned Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I hope you are both fans. Loved that series in all it's forms. I remember listening to the radio series back in the early 80's when I was in highschool.

Oh great. A quote from a Vorlon really clears THAT up. :D

I like how the tardis tougt river to control her because the doctor was "busy that day" - S06E01. Didn't mention he was dying.

George Baxter

I wasn't a big fan of this era. Paula identified it earlier on; during season 6 and 7 the show is very wrapped up in its mystery and twists. I think watching it week to week this approach was very engaging but looking back it feels more shallow. Moffat matured as his tenure went on and Capaldi's Doctor is deeper, more challenging and highly rewatchable.

George Baxter

Yeah I think Paula was asking if Stephen Moffat is currently running the show and Kat misinterpreted the question? Of course they will get to Chibnall eventually... I hope they will level more criticism at him then poor Mr. Moffat.

John

I have a theory about this episode that I can't discuss yet. But, we now know who River meant when she said she was taught how to fly the TARDIS by the best, and that the Doctor was "busy." To paraphrase Babylon 5, "River Song is the closed circle. She has returned to the beginning."

I didn't really like this episode so much in the past, it's good lore but there's too much STUFF happening all at once. However, after watching this reaction I've upped my opinion of it. I love how seeing what other people see in an episode can change your outlook. Kat's explanation of fish fingers and custard being the equivalent of a pinky promise was EXCELLENT. I'd been trying to explain to myself how that emotional touchstone works, and a pinky promise is a fantastic example.

Hi Kat, Chris Chibnall took over the reins from Moffat when Jodie Whittaker became the Doctor.
