I really think Julian Bleach as Davros can be so underrated. He's just sooo good in stories like this. You really feel for him, even though he's totally playing both the audience and the Doctor. SOOO GOOD. I mean, no shade to people like Michael Wisher (the brilliant template) or Terry Molloy or whomever, but Julian Bleach is an AMAZING Davros! <3

I personally love the sunglasses.. 1st of all, they go along with the rock and roll Doctor which I personally love.. 2nd, he chose to do the sunglasses because he wanted to do something that would be more affordable for the kids.. The screwdriver driver was more expensive for some people.. Lastly, he also changed his outfit around, so more people could be the Doctor without spending a lot of money to Cosplay him. That's another reason why I love Capaldi so much.. Always thinking about the fans because he is one and always will be. ❤❤❤

I heard that he was wearing them so much around the set that Moffatt decided to make it part of his costume, anyway. Its like his ring - he refuses to take off his wedding ring so they added a second ring which fits over his real one

The 12 and Davros scenes are fantastic for me... The actor playing Davros manages to make us feel for him. Its a credit to the make up, writing and musical score of this episode. Otherwise he's still a manipulative monster but still so compelling; this is bold backstory for such a iconic character Clara is more 2D going forward but I appreciate that her characterisation isnt distracting; she supports the themes of the show rather than impeding them.

Maybe a little contrived, maybe a little confusing but a fun ride for sure. Something from classic that we tend to forget is how charming Davros can be when he wants to. We saw that again here and the interactions between the Doctor & Davros are great... "Unlimited rice pudding," indeed!

Now, I don't know if the story is true, but I've always heard the sunglasses were Capaldi's idea, with the intent that you wouldn't have to buy merch to (cos)play the Doctor. just grab some glasses, and there you go, sonic.
