Okay, Zuko is confused, but "I would have figured something out" is such a hilariously bad retort. When would you have figured something out? At some point in the two seconds between the Gaang showing up and Katara knocking your socks off with eclipse-powered waterbending? You DIDN'T figure something out, you left yourself nowhere to go, you failed your objective and you would have died if Aang didn't selflessly save you. And apparently he learned nothing from it either. Till the next episode from this one anyway.

The reveal of Toph’s lie detector abilities makes her and Katara’s story in, “The Tales of Ba Sing Se,” even sadder. It’s bad enough being made fun of by someone but to be able to know that they believe what they’re saying cuts even deeper. This also means that Toph knew that Katara also believes everything she said to Toph too
