I never understand the Clara hate. I really like her. She's not my favorite companion but she's far from my least (which atm is a tie between Rose and Ryan...but I think Ryan may be finally stealing from Rose).

I remember that when I first watched this episode, when the detector identified the monster as Clara, I thought it meant that the doctor has actually been Cloning deformed versions of Clara in a crazy attempt to figure out what her deal was. that was when I realized my opinion on the doctor has sunk too low.

I quitelike this episode, not least because they take a moment to explore the extent and complexity of the Tardis' interior, rather than sticking to just the main console room. With the minor exception of The Doctor's Wife in series 6, which was really just corridors, the last time we saw any extended location of the interior of the Tardis was I the 1980s with the 5th Doctor. I'm not sure how far ahead you gals are, but I really do hope you will dip into a little bit of Classic Who before the 50th anniversary special, as well, as An Adventure in Space and Time. They will, provide so much additional content as t for the special once you watch it.

Yep, Donna was flying the TARDIS at the beginning of the 'Sontaran Stratagem', so I don't see the issue with Clara flying it too? Definitely no big deal. As others have said, definitely starting to think they're just looking for issues to have with Clara, because pretty much everything they say they don't like about her, gets a pass from other companions doing the same thing on the show before. Sad. ☹️ P.S. And I'm definitely not saying they're not 'allowed' to have a negative reaction to Clara and I know moving on to a new companion can be hard for some people (I guess as a Classic Who fan who's been through dozens of companions, it eventually gets easier), it's just somewhat sad for me to see them being super-critical of things that used to garner no issue with them before. Like, they're not even giving Clara a chance and that's just not how I watch the show -- Doctor Who is all about change, so I'm interested in new people having adventures with the Doctor. But, oh well. I'm still interested in what their reactions are going forward -- especially to my fave bits of Doctor Who later on with Capaldi as the Doctor -- so hopefully things will even out by then.

I'm a couple days late with this, but happy one-month TikTok-aversary, Paula!

I enjoyed both the episode and the reaction. tbh I was expecting far more anti-Clara feeling in this one than we actually got. Then again that salvage guy was - to quote my favourite character of another show - the absolute worst.

I wish we could skip through these episodes and get to the good stuff! Seems like the writers took their eyes off the ball in this period; its obvious that they were more concerned with the 50th. Clara's plot lines pre-season 8 are tough to swallow and Matt Smith's portrayal of his Doctor becomes very one note. I think it was a mistake for them to redress him and the Tardis going into this half of the season; the rebrand is far less iconic than his first 2 seasons. I appreciate Paula battling on: the best era of Doctor Who is nearly at hand!!

The episode itself is still kinda MEH for me. The Gals's reaction, however, was really really good!

So I’ve watched the episode, not just part of it, I’ve sat down for five minutes to let myself digest it and now for some comments . This episode kind of slipped away from me, but a lot of these ones are, there fun they just aren’t memorable. I completely understand where Paula is coming from. Although I don’t agree with her, I love Clara . But I can understand the rational process you are going through, because emotional control is rational as it protects us so therefore is rational, (common sense 101) that’s what Paula is doing, she admitted after the whole angels vs Manhattan she felt numb so she isn’t connecting with Clara as much, although I will say at times you do come across a little mean girlish, but it’s quite funny so no harm done, the majority of us are smart enough to allow you to have your opinion and enjoy your reaction. But I’m glad your having fun. Moffat was trying to make this more of a fun journey towards the fiftieth and I think he managed it.

When this episode originally aired I thought it was the worst episode of New Who I had seen to date. I am interested to revisit it through the Gals' eyes.

Tea? Earl Grey, hot.

He taught Donna how to drive the TARDIS. They even joked about damaging the 80's. Tsk, always shitting on Clara when Amy's right there with her psychological abuse of Rory.

Uh oh... the Gals about to start a Barry's vs Lyon's debate in the comments! :D
