The golden arrow at the end that somehow defies gravity after being fired from a bow always makes me laugh. I know this is a sci-fi show but come on. We all know how gravity works on Earth. Had it been an alien planet, then they could've cheesed an explanation as to how a golden arrow could fly like that.

when I first saw this episode, I was a bit meh. But now, it is one of my favorites of the season!
Peter Nolan
I'm so disorientated by you giving the intro right at the start!
Steven morgan
Glad you liked the Jaffa cakes
Sufyaan Kazi
I felt the same as you 😜

One more episode ..... Waiting patiently 🙄 anyway, watching this again, it was a pretty good episode, the right amount of cheese 👍

Mythbusters did an episode about the knife through the sail slide- which was originally done by Douglas Fairbanks in the Buccaneer. No, you can't actually do it, but they did show how they did it in the movie.

Just started watching this, but looking forward to all the fun! And yes, us commenters will be here with the trivia (it's my nerdy superpower -- hence me being a Doctor Who podcaster LOL). One of my fave bits of trivia from this story is that it has Ian Hallard in a small-ish role -- he plays Alan-a-Dale. The trivia part of that? He's Mark Gatiss's longtime husband. <3 Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back with more comments after watching! :)

That always makes me SQUEE SO HARD! <3
Daryl
That's true, I hadn't thought about that. Clumping about 800 year period of history together, me no likey. 🤣 Might as well call it olden days. 😆
FalcorDragon
Not just girls love these stories :) This is a completely ridiculous, totally divorced from traditional doctor who, and all around FUN! :) I hated the arrow at the end (just cause I wished they had done anything with it but just poke the outside LOL) but otherwise it was great! :) Oh, and yes, that's the same actress :)

I cant buy jaffa cakes anymore lol i end up eating the whole packet straightaway haha

Might be more in line with a Renaissance fair type of thing, at least I’ve heard them called that, (like medieval fairs). My brain does that too some times.
Daryl
A great fun episode, with a good fun reaction. Not sure you meant to reference the renaissance at the end there in relation to this episode. I think the time period is about 200 years too early for that. This is 12 in the 12th century. 😁
Nate
I really enjoy Doctor Who with a good measure of silliness, so I think this episode is great. Glad you liked the Jaffa Cakes!
Brian Gilliver
you girls made this so much more fun than when I first watched it . Love your reaction s

And yet, next season they have alien baddies using an ISIS-style flag. *throws hands up* I'll never understand Moffat's judgment as showrunner.

Paula's reaction when Robin's monologue at the end morphs from his own story to the Doctor's story... *chef's kiss*
Jade Ellis
Hated this episode on first viewing despite loving Robin Hood stories but on repeated viewing I've come to love it as a fun silly story.
Lloyd B
Fun fact - one of the images of Robin Hood they show on the ship's data banks is of Patrick Troughton (2nd Doctor), who played the outlaw in a 1953 BBC serial - https://images.app.goo.gl/AgjwLMd4NWq4jSus5
Firefly24601
Exactly. Another one of the "don't think too hard, just have fun with it and enjoy" episodes! 😁

Spot on, Gals! People who denigrate this episode are missing the point. It's meant to be light hearted and silly. Incidentally, there's a scene that was cut from the duel between Robin and the Sherrif, where Robin actually cuts the Sherrif's head off revealing that he's a robot, as he puts as head back on and continues to fight. That explains his line about being half man half machine. However in the weeks leading up to this episode airing there were ISIS terrorist beheadings of prisoners in the news, and it was felt the scene was in bad taste and too graphic for the time so they hastily removed it before broadcast.

Toss a coin to your reactors, oh YouTube of plentyyyyy.....
Scribbles
This episode is so much fun. It doesn't make a huge amount of sense if you pick it apart, but I appreciate it anyway, because I don't think it was meant to make sense. I can accept it when it's *meant* to just be silly, off-the-wall fun.

EEEEEEEEEE!!!! I LOVE THIS EPISOOOOODE!!!!!!! 💗💕🏹💥
