I originally didn't like the superhero part of this episode. You guys changed my opinion of it in a better way. I enjoyed watching your reaction as always thanks for another great one. And sorry about your loss wishing you the best <3

MrEvers

He grew on me when they made him less one dimensional

I didn't have access to New Who for a long time, it always required a subscription to a cable package that contained BBC America, or pay streaming sites, or something that cost much more money than I could justify for one show. When I found out it was available for free (at the time) on Amazon Prime video, I started a two-year long "catch up" viewing of New Who. This was the last episode I saw "catch-up," I watched it a couple months before Series 10 was broadcast.

I do enjoy this episode. Of the Christmas Specials, it is one of my favorites, with only maybe a Tennant christmas special challenging it. I am probably biased, because Capaldi is definitely my favorite. Plus, most of the over the top drama was very intentional: lovingly making fun of superhero drama and plots. It seemed to me that every shot of this episode could have been from a comic book. The last shot of the doctor, to me, didn't seem to be him angry, but him grinning in a mad scientist way "oh look, I'm off again", kinda like if he was in a comic book.

:) it's moderately funny to me that I'm the opposite and this is a lesser special to me however I like the one with Santa :D I do like everything with the Dr and how in his groove he is but Grant and Lucy are tough for me. Probably the cheese. ;) I do also very much like the conversation about endings, both the spirit of it and the mechanism of acknowleging what has happened. Hits me also for different reasons, Take care Katrina

Hope you are doing well Katrina. Sorry for your loss. I've been waiting for this one! It is one of my favs.

Bill

I don't think it is ever touched on again, even in passing, Katrina. And it is SUCH a good plot hook just sitting there!

Amy Chlebus

Sending you lots of hugs Katrina. I really wish I was there in person to give you as many hugs is humanly possible to make it all better, but I am so very sorry for your loss. ❤❤❤

"What the fsck!?" Thank you Paula. I've seen this episode multiple times and I still say that Every. Dang. Time.

Also, I feel you on the grief. I lost a long-time friend to suicide at the beginning of 2020 and thought I was mostly past it...and then I rewatched 'Heaven Sent' with you guys recently and it brought it all back. *hugs*

“Sometimes, on a good day, if I try very hard, I’m not some old Time Lord who ran away. I’m the Doctor."

I never took to Nardole, myself, and generally hated when he was on screen. Hoping to enjoy him more this time. I love this little story, though. It's just a sweet little romp that ticks all of my boxes. <3

Just at some point do the really, really good Moffatt: "Coupling". Wonderful, wonderful TV series. Very British. A lot of fun.

I’m sorry for your loss.. Just know that there is someone who actually exists that will help… and, “he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” -loved your reaction and the two of you (you always know how to brighten a day)

How can anyone not love Capaldi? He is one of the most talented actors out there, and I consider myself fortunate and blessed I got the opportunity to see him play the Doctor.

Anyway, we kind of forget that between the Singing Towers and The Library there must have been a significant amount of time where River had her own adventures without seeing the Doctor. So for the Doctor, who saw her die on his first meeting, he knows that she's alive out there, somewhere/somewhen but he can never see her again.

This one was more of a miss for me first time around. But I've grown to love it more. It was more of a timing thing I think. After a one year break. So many of the superhero properties already in full swing. At the time, I felt it had the taste of unoriginality and just capitalising with what was current. I failed to fully appreciate the fun playfully nods as much as I do now. I've found a lot of episodes have caught me more fully on a second watch. Sometimes the anticipation and expectation of something you love can be a detrimental to one's appreciation.

The Doctor's comment about things ending is my absolute favorite quote of his. So much truth and meaning in that one comment, universally for everyone as well as personally for him.

This wasn’t a memorable episode when it aired but watching others react to this, its really grown on me

Scribbles

This special is so adorable.

In the Mexican dubs of the show, Dr Who is translated as Dr Mysterio - not sure how well the jokes translate

Happy New Years all. Not a favorite special but it's nice to see the ladies reacting to Twelve again. Cheers!
