In the end servers cost money, and those costs increase as inflation hits home, and more content is added and viewed. They can only compress and reduce resolution so much to save space before quality takes a big hit. I am not sure people are aware of the massive amount of time the team puts into this, which they nowhere near get compensated for, which is why they all work other jobs to try to survive, and cannot always answer instantly.

Firstly I’m not bullying I’m simply explaining my views, Secondly I deleted the name after I wrote it, I didn’t mean to send it. To lecture me for a mistake and to call me a bully says it all This isn’t about contractual obligation this is about respect what you did was disrespectful. I’m not saying you owe me anything but hey i was stupid enough to think you were building a community I just expected a little honesty and common decency. The fact you couldn’t even answer me all weekend and allowed firefly to lecture me and mock my mathematic skills when they know I have learning difficulties ( which is bullying) but immediately as I make a mistake ( which o delete) you take the higher ground shows how shady you are. I’m not going to delete my sub because I’m not petty. I told you why I thought you were unfair, I probably overwrote it but that’s because I overexplain everything ( slight autism ) I am loyal, but I’m sorry I call a spade a spade. To me respect isn’t something that is owed, but it is given, The fact you couldn’t apologise without wrapping it up in a lecture is quite upsetting I’m sorry I guess I just assumed better From now on I will see myself as a customer and not a member of a community

Steven, we work hard to make this channel a fun place for fans of these shows to come together and chat about our shared passions however, like you mentioned, it is up to us to run the channel how we see fit. That said, we are sorry you seem so upset by these announcements, but it’s worth mentioning again that we DO NOT tolerate name calling nor BULLYING in this forum. As the channel grows so do the expenses to maintain it, that’s just the nature of our business. To be clear; You are under no contractual obligation to sub to every tier nor are we under any obligation to just give stuff away for free. If we have included content for free in the past that is at our own discretion and let me make this clear to all our patrons who in the past and present have made statements that they are owed something by the Gals because they have watched the channel from the beginning... we are content creators you do not hold any ownership over our choices or our channel. We do not owe you any more than the content we decide to create.

The comment you are responding to is not complaining that you don't like the price rise. That's a completely understandable feeling. Who likes that? It's countering your (and others) statements that the Gals have a moral imperative to never charge for the Animated tier. Of I should say charge Full Geronimo for the animated tier? Because they absolutely did charge for the animated tier on it's own. So if you wanted Animated on it's own, it certainly wasn't free. And if you wanted Animated plus any other show, you had to pay for Full Geronimo and pay for shows you didn't watch. Now there are more tiers so you can pay only for what you want, in fact someone here just had their price go DOWN due to the options now available. And what does impartiality have to do with anything? Math is math. You got a tier for free (but only IF you were Full Geronimo) and now they're charging for it, just like every other tier. Just because I'm disagreeing with you doesn't mean I'm any more biased than you are. I still have to pay like everyone else. And if you think I'm the only one that sends them things, you haven't been paying attention.

I don't think comparing a channel that has 1,700 Patrons and almost a million YT subscribers to a channel that has 600-700 Patrons and 14K YT subscribers is an apples-to-apples comparison. There are economies of scale you can leverage when you have that many subscribers and that much income coming in, that you can't with as small a channel as this one. Such as hiring more editors so you can watch more content and get it out faster. Reel Rejects is more than a two-person team.

The comment you're responding to, (and my previous one) are not complaining about a price rise on it's own, but for the fact it was a rise, plus an additional fee for content you already got. That's ridiculous. I've heard you user name on many streams given the gifts you've gave, you're not impartial.

You have to pay food and rent, and so do the Gals. Taking more time to record, edit, post and market TWO more series means they the prices go up. I don't think it's disrespectful to ask to be paid for your labor. If people can't afford all the content, that's completely understandable. That's why there's several tiers. so you can pick and choose the reactions you feel like paying for. I've certainly gone to lower tiers myself in the past, on certain reactors who I couldn't afford. But to want to get paid properly for one's own labor is not disrespectful by ANY means.

I think the whole idea of parallel tiers and charging separately for every show is very weird. Especially when compared to creators like Reel Rejects, also 2 men team, who provide all of their content for $5 a month. And they upload new reactions at least once a day. And another $5 for watch-along-only Marvel shows, so a format requiring little to none editing? That's almost as much as entire Disney+ subscription, kind of ridiculous. But your business, your rules, I guess. I'll probably stick around to the end of Capaldi era and that'll be it.

Happy to pay. I watch you two more than I do Netflix so I feel like I'm getting my money's worth.

Crusher told him to hold his breath! That's how you get a burst lung. Next time you're exposed to a total vacuum, breath out!

Bekah

I mean, my price is going down because I don't watch the animated and never did so now I won't be paying for what I don't want.

Time Lord

New Tiers have been created to hopefully make the channel a little more accessible!

Firefly24601

I didn't mean to sound like I was being unfair. Your situation is perfectly understandable. But considering we got a free tier of Animated for a year, I also can't fault them for raising prices to what they should have been last year, this year. In the previous post, Gremlin said if there was a combo of shows you wanted to watch, you can contact her and they might be able to make a custom fit. So if you wanted Who, Animated, and Marvel but no TNG, and there's no specific tier for that, they can get you a custom quote. I hope this helps!

Prime

I think with the whole "Keep subscribed over Christmas while we don't give you any new content for half of it", rings a bit hollow now in light of this announcement a month later. it's a pity, but this is my honest raw reaction.

Firefly24601

It sucks having to choose between rent/food and entertainment. I can't really fault them for upping prices when releasing more content. I'm just happy they didn't raise prices for the Animated content until this year.

FalcorDragon

The 9 dollar jump for marvel (though it'll only be 5 after the price raise was a bit surprising but considering that there's the 3 of them (plus others behind the scenes) it's definitely a fair price but it's understandable if you can't justify it in your head, there's always the youtubes :)

Prime

After being a top level patron for over 2 years, I think this might be done. looking at the new tiers it seems like the good times are over. Previously the top tier got everything now for that you're wanting almost double if you include the marvel reactions. With a massive cost of living crisis in the UK currently, that is due to get worse in April I guess tomorrow's renewal will probably be the last.

Thanks for this explanation.
