Good episode and reaction, the boots are in First Contact I believe.

The trench coat for the oodies doesn’t need to be extremely large, it just needs to be… *waits for everyone to join in with the companions* bigger on the inside!

I tried to look up gravity boots in fiction and really it seems Star Trek was the front runner in that, most other sci fi goes the rotational gravity route in space.
Bill
Guh. SUCH a good episode.
Amy Chlebus
I absolutely love this episode, and Capaldi is my Doctor of the new era. He also has my heart. ❤❤

Havent watched this one in a long time, its better than I remembered.

It makes sense that none of the workers on the station would be in favor of capitalism. They're all the folks being exploited by the system. Jamie Mathieson would have had to have written in a corporate representative (who gets a share of the profits) and placed that character on the station, to get a pro-capitalism viewpoint. A bit like Pritchard in Under the Lake / Before the Flood.
Christopher Jones
I believe they make their first appearance in Star Trek V where they are used (primarily by Spock) more as "jet boots" to allow him to fly. The same prop boots are used again in Star Trek VI to walk on deck plating in zero-G conditions, similar to the sequence walking on the outside of the ship in First Contact. We now return you to our regular Doctor Who reaction commentary.

I LOVE that popping candy chocolate, it has little jelly bits in too. I think the popping candy stuff in it is a little less obvious but it is definitely there, I'd say it is more noticeable in the larger bars but those are dangerous because they disappear before your very eyes very quickly! Oh yeah and great episode too!

Are they featured any earlier? Rocket boots and Gravity boots are basically the same I guess if we aren't going to be pedantic. I know I was just going backwards. 🙃

Im surprised the Gals didnt have more to say about the evils of Space Capitalism! I think the metaphor is clever and the resolution is satisfying but maybe there should have been more conflict? Nobody on the ship is for or against capitalism or any other societal system. As for the Doctor not being able to regenerate-heal himself there's a vagueness to when that power applies. It does seem like every Doctor gets a 'freebie'. 10 used regeneration energy to power his TARDIS and create a duplicate of himself, 11 used the energy to heal River and blow up the Daleks and 12 has used it to heal Davros. Its used or not used whenever the show runner has written themselves into a corner...

The Gals are back!
Christopher Jones
Technically, before that in Star Trek V, but Paula was talking about the Next Generation movies.
DarkAshtar
The more I think on it Capaldi is my favorite Doctor.
Daryl
But previously in The Undiscovered Country. :)

The anti-gravity boots are in First Contact. :)
