I get emotional watching these BTS of shows I enjoy. Table reads and final episodes especially. Not an actor myself except the show choir performances and the few times I played the doctor's companion in fan films back in my early 30s. Lol

I agree actually. 9's is very modest and conversational, like he doesn't know how to explain. Very 'northern'. I think the later Doctors get very soliloquy...eeee. The tenure of the character should speak for itself. I know the Doctor's ethos is 'never be cruel or cowardly' but Capaldi has to say it again. Even when there's no one else in the room! When the whole episode is about the character's regeneration the final scene should be short and surprising rather than drawn out.

I can't remember if you guys watched Tennant's last take and the little goodbye the crew gave to him, IT BRINGS ALL THE TEARS. He's all crying and trying to hold it together in his trailer and then he gets ask to come back to set and loses it again. 😭😭 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5uVYYXls00 (the tears start around the 10:00 min mark)

Just realized I forgot to mention the reference to Villengard in 'Twice Upon a Time'. They also mention it in this BTS thing, when talking about the Doctor meeting Rusty the Dalek again, which reminded me to mention it as I don't think you guys caught it. Anyway, it's a super-quick mention in the episode (when they arrive at the planet with all the out-of-their-cases Daleks and Rusty, Twelve says: 'The Weapon Forges of Villengard. Once the nightmare of the seven galaxies, now home to the dispossessed'), but yeah, that's a callback to the first Moffat story of New!Who, 'The Empty Child'/'The Doctor Dances' where you get this exchange: (Captain Jack's blaster disintegrates the lock.) DOCTOR: Sonic blaster, fifty first century. Weapon Factories of Villengard? JACK: You've been to the factories? DOCTOR: Once. JACK: Well, they gone now, destroyed. The main reactor went critical. Vaporized the lot. DOCTOR: Like I said. Once. There's a banana grove there, now. I like bananas. Bananas are good. Just a little reference to Moffat's time with the show, but I love it! <3

To be brutally honest I felt that Christopher Eccleston did the best regeneration scence. No long speeches , no self indulgence and you could feel he didn't want to go even though he didn't mention it. I'm sure plenty will disagree .

Thanks, this was a lot of fun

Firefly24601

I did too. :D We're so used to just going straight to the reaction on top.

Darn. Watched in the wrong direction those two posts of today. Still worked, but felt strange.

I highly recommend Big Finish's "First Doctor Adventures" starring David Bradley as the first Doctor. At this point, I think that there isn't any spoilers for future episodes, and I actually think he shines in those audio dramas.

I really miss you Peter and Steven! I wish you the best in life and whatever else you do. ❤️❤️
