I hate being so behind, but I only just watched this and I think it's funny Paula thinks Wilhand looks like Larry David from "Curb..." I think perhaps he's modeled after the Dungeon Master character from the 80s D&D cartoon?

I love Wilhand's line about never seeing Grog look worse, considering next episode. :D I like the context changes around those two major lines. His response to Percy make Syldor even more irredeemable. He shows such respect because of Percy's nobility, but even a title isn't enough to get him to respect his own daughter. And she's not ready to confront him with how she really feels. In the campaign he was much softer, even admitting that he has to work on his bigotry.

This episode is basically Vex having to deal with gaslighting assholes and then doing her darnedest to completely stomp on their fragile male egos (and I love it). Laura Bailey is absolutely fucking brilliant and it's no surprise that Vex is one of my favorite Vox Machina characters.

Yep! That reveal, right? Wish we could elaborate. :-) And if you're looking for a good example of Troy Baker's voice, look up the watchalong party for this block of episodes. He appears with Matt, Travis, Sam, and someone else and it's hilarious!!

Something I wasn't sure about at first, but actually really like now, is the change to the way the 'Lady Vex'ahlia' moment plays out. In the stream, Taliesin says the immortal line and Matt, as Syldor, is flustered and changes the wording of the document. It's a great moment! In the show, Syldor is completely unmoved, which I initially felt took all the wind out of the moment's sails. But what it does instead is give Vex much greater agency in finally standing up to her piece of shit father (only when he insults Percy, of course!). Also, you wondered why Devana is with him when he's such a tool; I assume that, when he's interacting with his not-half-elf wife and daughter he's a completely different person, perhaps the father that Vex always wanted him to be for her? It's the only way I can explain Velora being such a well-adjusted delight!

A very fun episode, and Boy do we Love Trauma in this show!
