About here I suspect y'all begin to regret this format of the show where you don't give yourselves any room to digest the heavy episodes before starting the next one, unless it happens to be the last of three. :3

"Mr Greg" really brought the waterworks😭 I was expecting Rose to appear in some way during that number, and it would've broke me.... Peridot's become a fav of mine because because of her struggles to fit in, and despite Steven's struggles, he has a certain optimism that sees him through, whereas I can't help but identify with Peri being frustrated and discouraged. She has to actively try to get along without compromising who she is - it can be a fine line between capitulating and remaining true to yourself, especially when it seems being yourself alienates other people.

I like to think that the reason Marty came back to pay Greg was most likely someone finding out he wasn't the original writer of the jingle and he was forced to go pay Greg by a legal team. Hence the line about being legally obligated to pay Greg. Also wouldn't surprise me if what ended up being his downfall is his view on women. But overall, It is why he "needed" that soda deal, cause he had to pay out and needed a... well payout, one he has more legal rights to. Also, Rose's Scabbard and Mr. Greg are my top two episodes.

Also, how would the episode have ended if Peridot didn’t have a latent superpower? With Amethyst chucking the tablet into the ocean and making her feel worse? Disabled people are often told that we need to find our superpower or even that our disabilities, themselves, are superpowers, which is a terrible message. No one needs a unique skill, talent or strength to have dignity as an individual. Giving Peridot the proverbial superpower and using that superpower to break her out of her depression completely undercut the message of self-acceptance, IMO.

Amethyst’s comment to Peridot about not focusing on what she “can’t do” is a little too close to non-disabled people telling disabled people to focus on our abilities, rather than our disabilities (which is not something you should ever say to a disabled person). Peridot was clearly upset that Steven and Amethyst took her somewhere she couldn’t fully enjoy because of her disability (in this case, not being able to shapeshift like most other gems). Also, although it ended up prompting her to use her latent ferrokinetic power, it wasn’t Amethyst’s place to try to wrench the tablet away from Peridot, which she was clearly using to compensate for the loss of her limb enhancers and other accommodations (which Amethyst, herself, callously threw away after they captured and bubbled her). I think that particular episode missed the mark.

I haven't watch the reaction yet but god I can't wait to see Mr Greg. An absolute standout of the entire series. Time to clear the rest of my schedule for the day and emotionally prepare myself.

Mr Greg is one of my favorite episodes. Cant say enough about Pearl dancing on the balcony. Part of the pathos is that Greg genuinely believes that Pearl hates him and for someone like Greg that is something very hard to take. And Pearl has been punishing him for something Rose did, couldnt help and it has made Pearl bitter. Very cathartic.
