maybe It just me getting used to the slower pacing, but this is the first time since you started this era, that I really enjoyed an episode.

Some behind the scenes trivia but William Hartnell took a 2 week holiday during the filming of this story hence the Doctor going off on his own. This story is unusual in that it is structured more like a modern series arch rather than as a single story in 6 parts. This episode was the last broadcast before the BBC TV Chanel was renamed BBC 1 due to the Launch of BBC 2 between the broadcast of parts 2 and 3.

I know the Gals are interested in behind-the-scenes stuff, so here's a peek behind the curtain: At this time during the series' production, the shooting schedule was such that the only way for an actor to have time off was to simply be absent for an episode or two. This applied even to the Doctor. Thus, the Doctor's plan for them to split up— they'll see the Doctor again after William Hartnell's vacation. As the show goes on, keep an eye out for episodes where one of the regulars is missing and you'll be able to track the actors' work schedules!
