A detail I've always loved about this show is the way all the corrupted quartzes look. If you look at the odd patterns that appear on them, like the green blobs that spread across Jasper, and compare them to real gems, you'll notice something neat. The gem's normal forms are colored and patterned after the polished, cut versions of the real minerals, but their corrupted forms more closely resemble those same minerals in their raw, natural state.

I think I missed Steven’s explanation on naming the rubies on first watch. I never realized Army and Navy were named that because one had their gem on their arm and another had their gem on their navel.
