Fun eugenics trivia: even with an exacting breeding program, you'd need about 70-80 humans at the very least to form a sustainable population without inbreeding. The human zoo doesn't seem to have more than about 25 members, and it was established around 5000 years ago, so they must have some very good cloning technology at work. With that in mind, it's pretty funky to see how the gems have worked to create an entirely separate human society. There could be some comparisons between the zoo and North Sentinel Island. Not that I'd like to get into that myself.

Thank you for reminding me how much I do not like Holly Blue Agate. Also in terms of the gene pool thing, it's likely why (I think) Greg got choosened right away, to introduce new genes. Like that Star Trek episode where Dr. Pulaski told those 2 groups of people to merge into one society and have multiple children with multiple partners.

When I first reached these eps I had thought that all of the Earth Gems had been shattered and used for the Cluster. At least Blue Diamond saved some and put them to work (I hadnt remembered that Jasper was a respected Earth gem warrior). At least some of the Gems found a place in Gem society...bad as it was. And that some of the "wrong" ones like Carnelian werent shattered for not being perfect which I had assumed would be their fate. There is a lot of totalitarianism in Homeworld Society and it seems to be genetic. Most gems are born knowing their place but it is clear that change & rebellion are also possible. And at least Blue & Yellow Diamond have spared the humans and kept the Rose Quartz's bubbled, so they're not total Nazis!
