Renaldo, you just don't have legs. Or gem powers, in this case. There is a problem in superhero fiction where the superhumans are by nature anti-democratic. Superman deals with this when he's written at his best, making Lex Luthor motivated by feeling irrelevant as a human being and such. And the best answer Superman can give is just that his job doesn't have a lot overlap with most of the mortals; that he's only there to catch people when they fall off buildings and stop meteors from destroying the earth. But if you really get into it, if you want to fully integrate a population of superhumans in human society, it's going to be constant work to fit everybody together without reducing anyone's power of choice, without limiting anyone's freedom. Pretty bold of the show to go there, even with the major jerk case Renaldo.

As someone who lost their mom at 19, being old enough to realize my mother wasn't perfect and her flaws while my younger siblings are only just now realizing my mom had her own demons. My mom once chaperoned a debate club field trip and got drunk so I had to drive us back to the motel. (I had my license so my teacher didn't break any rules by having me drive us there.) Still it was an embarrassing situation to go through as high school senior.
