"Actually I'm more friends with Sour Cream than with Onion" would be such a weird conversation to have. What do you do when your parents have parent friends and force you to be friendly with their kids when you aren't friends all? Especially when you're the older one and you're expected to include them and mentor them and be patient and junk. Hmm there is a theme of consent here maybe.

To be fair to Garnet it was a very personal boundary that Pearl smashed to smithereens. If Pearl had talked to Garnet about how she felt fusing with Garnet and missing it BEFORE she tricked Garnet into fusing Garnet would have no reason to be mad and would be in the wrong if she was. However Pearl gaslighted Garnet and tricked her into it violating her trust, when you are pissed it is hard to make yourself listen to anyone even if they have a good point or valid argument. Also Peal did waste their time, Peridot is doing god knows what to Earth and Pearl is side tracking them. Homeworld Gems were cool with destroying earth in the past so Peridot's current mission could be just as bad or worse.

Rhode Island has square pizza too

I think Garnet’s (and Ruby’s) reaction was understandable, and she (they) needed time to process. Fusion is portrayed as an extremely intimate act, emotionally and physically. Garnet only fuses with other gems when necessary to defeat an imminent threat; she doesn’t do so just to share intimacy. Fusion for the sake of emotional/physical intimacy is something that Ruby and Sapphire choose to share only with one another. Pearl convincing Garnet to fuse under false pretenses is analogous to tricking someone into consenting to sex under false pretenses (at least that’s how I’m interpreting it). While Pearl may have been motivated to do so by loneliness, a feeling of weakness or lack of intimacy in her own life, that doesn’t make it O.K. nor does that obligate Garnet (or Ruby) to forgive Pearl or even immediately engage in dialogue with her. I think the episode ended as best it could, with Garnet essentially signaling she needed time to process what happened and wasn’t ready to engage with Pearl.

But what about Ruby's reaction...? And is Steven really fated to pee outside?

I think they did a really good job at juggling the show's various character arcs. There's quite a few throughout the series, and I think they really managed to hit a good sweet spot with all of them. Keystone Motel is also the first episode that directly points out that SU's USA has different states. It's not just random either. They actually put loads of work into the geography of SU's Earth. I'm not going to go into any more detail, as figuring out the differences is part of the fun.

I like to think that Onion knew feeding the mouse to the snake would upset Steven, and this was his weird messed-up way of showing him he didn't kill the mouse... LOL

I hadn't seen this episode in so long and I completely lost it when Onion showed Steven his birthing video. So unhinged!

I love Rebecca Sugar bringing local Maryland pizza into the show. "Ledo's pizza is square because we don't cut corners!"

Firefly24601

I just love all the random weird shit the writers have Onion do. 😆

I actually considered starting a parody religion called Pizzatology, mocking Scientology in my mid 20's or early 30's. I mean everybody can enjoy pizza, it was kind of a running gag with my friends because when we usually got together we ate pizza. Pizza is like the least offensive food. Unfortunately, I later found out of the church of the flying spaghetti monster and found out a parody religion based around another Italian food would be a bit repetitive and redundant even though we were mocking two separate things. I mean this was when Scientology was suing so many people who criticized them it was ridiculous so we're talking at least 15 years ago,
