I'm with Lister on this one. Twelve year olds Do think about sex, however much we might prefer they didn't. Nothing sinister, no gasps of shock from the audience, just the most exciting day of young Dave's life! Why do people have to read negativity into it? π

I think we can assume that Rimmer was at the very least exaggerating his encounter with Sandra. Maybe they awkwardly got their hands on each other for a few seconds but she pulled away because he seemed more interested in the car than her, but to Rimmer this was a major milestone.
