I love Talkie Toaster! In the second novel, Better Than Life, it is explained that Talkie Toaster was bought by Lister at a souvenir shop on Miranda for the princely sum of $£19.99 (DollarPounds) plus tax. It was not fitted with a Silicon Heaven belief chip to keep the price down, and therefore had no concept of an afterlife, or even right and wrong. Regarding getting past the algorithm I notice that pausing and commenting intermittently really helps for a few channels I follow. Is this something you have considered?
