Whew! Late to the party, but I'm so glad I watched this, especially alongside two people who know and love both DW and the characters so well. Really heightens the experience and helps give valuable context for a somewhat casual fan like myself. As someone who was 'meh' on Ten and stopped watching after a few episodes of his tenure, I was expecting to dislike David Tennant as Crowley... but instead, his work in Good Omens made me realize what an amazing actor he is. And seeing him as The Doctor now...! It really, really hits different. I dunno if it's that he's changed, or that it's a somewhat different character, but this? This, I love. I pretty much agree on the representation and what they were (probably) trying to do versus how it came across. Like you, I love how Rose fits into it all, but am equally baffled by the "men don't understand how to let it go" thing. As a writer, the resolution of the episode in general feels a bit "we don't know how to resolve these plot points, so we've just do this". Oh, and the coffee spill made me laugh out loud. I was sure it was a double bluff, as in, they were setting up that she'd spill it, but then she wouldn't do it. But then she did, anyway? Triple bluff? :D
