The run from probably half way in Series 3 to the end of Series 5 is such quality that any show would kill for, is just a treat. Even the slight dips in quality, for me (such as Meltdown due to such a dark topic and a horrible Rimmer and The Inquisitor - too much to fit in in such a small run time) don't detract as they all contain great lines. I loved Series 6 when it came out (I was a fresh-faced 15 year old) and for years afterwards but it felt slightly off on a recent rewatch. With hindsight maybe it was the beginning of the end of the writing partnership as the strain sometimes is felt on screen. I still love it, especially a certain Emmy Award winning episode, and there are great ideas there but there is something just not quite hitting those glorious highs of 5. Hard to achieve, admittedly. But I always enjoy this one as it transports me back to High School (UK version, not sure what the US equivalent is) and me and my mates doing Computer Studies. We just used to sit there in silence, typing to each other. "Help! I have a taranshula setting up home in my joy department!" God knows how we managed to pass our Computing GCSE.....
