Great Chap for the most part. The part where constants making Alex's arm sore is nonsensical. Even if he is the crafter his stats are Way beyond hers. She could try to tear his arm off and he basically wouldn't feel it right? Also sparing the pirates is just dumb. They have proven themselves to be rapest, murders, thieves, slavers and happy to do it. I get letting people learn and being murciful but there is also correcting flat out wrong thinking. That part of being a parent and teacher he not doing that well in this scene. sparing the pirates is stupid, unjust and a drain on resources. Being murciful is great in the right situations. In the story you havent given sufficient reason why they wouldn't execute all the pirates. It's out of place. With Constances up brining and what she been though with the pirates it's completely out of place for her to spare them, let alone Alex to let her spare them. Hes not that dumb....ANd the mind wipeing which the priates know about from previous books and are just hokny dory with. You've basically made them the worst thing a human can become.......Just my thinking

I don't go into it in the story but historically that area is fairly challenging to navigate. Shifting tides and whirlpools + in this fictional world lots of monsters from the overrun countryside mean good feeding grounds for sea monsters as well.

Thank you! What are they going to do about the little bit of water between Sicily and mainland Italy? Couldn't the pirates just go around Sicily to get to Venice? Or maybe I forgot/missed something about who's defending that area...
