I actually modelled him after the High Sparrow in Game of Thrones. I think other then the violence this will have a Game of Thrones feeling to it.

The creepy guy with the crystal ball remindes me of the Dungeon Master both in the comic TV series D&D and in the game "Fantasy Empires". Perhaps having them brutalized will unravel hidden powers in his heroines? Perhaps he sold the television rights to Palantir Enterprises and Sauron wants a show?
