Prayers for me as I work on my VW this weekend! I love working on cars and motorcycles but VW's are especially difficult to work on... especially a performance one! I'm turning about $6000 worth of work into a mere $800 (including tools and parts) so this will go a long way to stretching the money you give to support for my art. I wish my dad was here to help me and argue with me while doing it. At least he left a whole set of tools, many of them VW specific while he worked on his ever breaking Westie.

I'll be replacing this car in August so if you're a car person, let me know what I should get next! I love performance (previous vehicles were two motorcycles, a Miata and a VW GTI). I need it to have trunk space (I love hatches) but also good on gas. 28+ mpg is the target hwy. Easy to maintain is a plus! Maybe I'll just get another GTI. They are so much fun to drive!

I don’t like SUVs but love hatchbacks. Unfortunately still VERY popular in Canada but since everyone in the USA do not buy them, Canada doesn’t get them either. I miss the old Honda hatchbacks. Maybe I’ll get a 90s CRX!

If your partial to vw I’ve always been interested in the tdi cars myself but I’m pretty partial to diesel’s having a “twin” turbod 700hp dodge myself

Look at the sporty two door/square back "shooting brake" vehicles, once common until public perception turned against the utilitarian hatch back configurations. Still popular in Europe, but in North America, we seem wedded to the small SUVs that are so often found on their tops and sides on urban roads and freeways.

I hear you with the trunk on the miata! When I started needing to carry 8+ boxes I put the top down and pretended it was a pickup truck! I’ll look into the Mazda 3. I hear there’s an AWD version as well!

Having just upgraded from a Mazda3 to a Miata RF. The mazda3 was still a blast to drive while keeping good cargo space for a compact sedan. Been loving the miata but oh boy, it can not hold a damn thing.
