Welcome to the fucking slog that is early S4, where plots are being thrown at the wall to see what sticks, loose ends tied together with gaffer tape, and jury rigging that would make even Scotty wince. And occasionally, to use a wrestling term, creative has nothing for you. Boomer is a good example of the last point; they could have really ramped up the resentment that Athena was living the life that she had, but instead she's kinda a third wheel and (urg) Cavill's bit on the side. It feels like Tory took some of her writing when the character was hastily created to replace Billy. Speaking of haste, Cally was written out as yes Nikki Clyne married Alison Mack as part of the NXIVM cult. And let's give a shoutout to Cavill, you charismatic evil bastard you. Good call on Boomer. Yes, they're writing her into this very odd wishy-washy hole with the whole sleeper background as the main obvious justification. The reason you're noticing it now is that, by now, they were on notice to start tying up loose ends and needing to make use of her for… something… anything, down the line.
