I still don't get what was the point of revealing that every nine words, Alan was begging for his life. somebody in discord suggested that it was the machine that was begging in the brief moments it was free of Alan control, but upon rewatching The Doctor clearly say it was Alan. in every moment before and after that revelation, it was clear that Alan was a terrible megalomaniacs dictator that deserved to be reduced to a stain on the floor, so adding that one moment of pity for him was weird.

I think you're absolutely right Paula, I couldn't put it into words until you said it and then I was, yes! I was immediately reminded of the good old days of Star Trek Original, notably the episode "Let this be your last battlefield " where the aliens who were at war with one another had black/white faces on each side, only one group were left right and the others were opposite. It helped the young me see, without telling me, how ridiculous racism was, it didn't need to say it, the story was the message and even a six year old me "got it" without realising I had! But yes, I did enjoy the journey with all it's twists and am looking forward to your next reaction! Oh, hi Kat as well!
