British comedy is usually 2 degrees of separation, everyone knows everyone else, whetehr from going to University together (traditionally Cambridge and Oxford, as the Footlights and Revue societies have always put on shows at the Edinburgh Frince), the Fringe too is a key place to meet especially those with a stand up background (but not necessarily as there's plenty of variety in shows that people do). Or they just work together on other stuff. Monty Python is a combination of 1 and 3, as is the core Blackadder cast - both are mainly split between Oxford and Cambridge. The main reason I wanted to go to Cambridge was to join Footlights.

Blackadder and "Frou Frou" both seem to assume that the embassy of France in London, which is legally French territory, will still be under the control of the royalist faction, and will hand out a reward and be hosting a party, but when they get there they find it has fallen, and an anti-royalist has been appointed as the new ambassador. But Smedley and Topper plan to trick Blackadder from the start by being both the man whom he pretends to rescue, and the man who then rescues them. Almost nobody recognizes "Percy" in the full disguise. The makeup dept did a great job.
