I'm one of the few people who really liked the finale. But let's not discuss it yet. Let the gals make their own minds up about it.

Troy Convers

Oh, you can't not watch the extended cut of the finale, even if only to lob your laptop across the room like an Olympic discus thrower. 😄

Ricky

Isn't the extended version the one in Prime? Because on the session premiere of this season I had to do a lot of pausing.

matt christie

Yeah 'The Face Of The Enemy' needs to be watched.

Troy Convers

Will you be watching 'The Face of the Enemy' webisodes?

Tippis

To be fair in both directions, even with regular versions playing at the correct speed, it can occasionally turn out that the released version in any given region has differences in cuts or adbreak-fades or intro/outro/credit order to represent (or not) the aired version properly. And different cuts between DVD and BR and streaming and a *different* streaming platform… The first season of this watching along was rife with that because there are quite a number of different releases of what should be the same thing. So on the one hand, whatever, you're always going to have to account for those differences in the audience. But on the other hand, the extended versions are something that might not be available *at all* to some viewers. But on the third hand, they're usually more unified exactly because they weren't aired and have been more specifically created for special distribution so for those that *do* have them, odds are that there will be fewer timing issues.

With an emphasis on the "Do it!!!" in the poll being read with Palpatine's voice!

Nolan

No, no. One has an extended cut, the other does not. Heavens. If The Plan had an extended cut that movie might be better. Alas.

Firefly24601

I know Razor has two versions (and this vote includes Razor), but The Plan has an extended version too?

Nolan

What are your plans for the two movies as well? One of them does not have an extended cut (but also should not be watched after the finale because it's a worse note to end on, IMO) but the other has an extended cut as well, 102 min vs 88. And if you do the extended cut of that, you can skip the webisode series because some are incorporated into the extended cut along with additional footage, tying a bit of a inconsequential side story into the films narrative.

Alex Taylor

People fannish enough to watch BSG reaction videos will most likely own the Blu-rays, and therefore will prefer the extended cuts. Especially by the time we get to season 4 and the finale. If you don't have Blu-rays yet, put them on your Christmas list!

Unfortunately not on my copies

Do it, but....... I don't have all the extended additions either. This reminds of the trope "see this movie with 4 minutes of never before seen footage." This also brings up an interesting TNG topic too. Did anyone see the scenes that were left out of TNG episodes? "The Wounded" had some very impactful scenes that were left out but for run time. So all in all I voted against it since I just don't have all the extended cuts. But....... if I could go back and watch the TNG episodes with their extra footage for the first time.... I would. Since this is their first time watching I would say "Do it!" Since after the fact extended doesn't make a monumental change but watching it for the first time is an experience that can't be undone.... that is monumental... then seeing the extended as a first viewing is a singular positive experience. I might not be able to watch along. But you should definitely do it as a first time viewing. If I could watch Superman (Christopher Reeves) with today's extended as my first viewing.... priceless. Take the opportunity that the creators have given you for a richer viewing experience. I know the Gallifrey Pals love their audience and want to accommodate us (hence the poll) but I think this is one time where I want them to have a richer viewing experience and I can accommodate them if needs be. Either way, thanks Pals!🥰

Nolan

I'm assuming you're in Region 2 and it's an NTSC vs PAL formatting issue, which I've had to deal with sometimes during Red Dwarf... but if you have the DVDs, don't you also have the extended cuts as well? Or were they not included on your copies?

Martyn Hill

Oh well it looks like I won't be watching your reactions to those episodes then. It's bad enough keeping sinked up with the regular episodes as my DVD player plays slightly faster than your viewing it will be impossible with the extra scenes. It will be easier to just watch those myself and catch up with you on later episodes

Brina Blue

I promise, no spoilers to follow: I have access to all of the extended versions and in all cases but one, prefer them. I want to give a plug to an episode that is coming up soon (3x09 Unfinished Business) and why I think you should go for the regular edit on this one. In my opinion, the cold open in the standard open is a thing of beauty. The editing combined with Bear McCreary's music is just excellent but the extended version uses non of it. I don't think the extra scenes really add anything substantial either.
