Another episode that I wish had another 30 seconds or so of runtime. I wish the Dave era wasn't so constricting in that way.

I think the mechanoids wereing glasses is just to hid the fact the extras are probably wearing ill-fitting casts of Kyten's head. But this one WAS a bit of revenge for Llwellyn on the other cast members having to wear so much prosthetics over the last 30 years.

It's funny you mentioned Deep Space Nine.. because Diva Droid have premises on DS9. If you look at the full promenade directory from the set, you can find some fun sci-fi easter eggs! There's a couple tributes to Red Dwarf in there.. Jupiter Mining Corporation that make the Red Dwarf also have an entry :)

*slits eyes nervously at the next episode* Honestly, I don't want to say too much, but it's...not good. In watching the behind the scenes doc for this series, I'm willing to give Doug the benefit of the doubt that he didn't mean for it to come across the way it did. This one though? I rather like it. Honestly, the mechanoids have an honest gripe. The problem is I think the plot is a bit undercooked and could have stood for a little bit more polishing. It was definitely carried on the back of a cast that elevated the material from mediocre to good.

After the cringing weirdness of the last ep, we get a positronic banger! 'Siliconia’ is a fantastic episode and a spiritual sequel to 'DNA'. The idea of the MILFs (basically Mechanoid Black Panthers) is brilliant and we get the squeefest of the boys in Mechanoid getup, and a chance for Chris Barrie to uncork his S-tier vocal talents and release his audiobook Kryten impersonation onto the masses, with even Craig Danny getting in on the act later on. There's also the continuity of Lister's guitar from 'Fathers and Suns' returning. And is it me, or android/robot races saying that resistance/co-existence/defiance is futile/impossible a running theme? Scary! It did feel a wee bit rushed at the end; the plot could have easily been stretched to an hour; which I would have quite readily sacrificed the next episode for...

I can't help but feel they didn't get Lister's skin tone and mouth shape quite right! As pale as Rimmer and a bit muffled..! The next episode should be interesting.. I hope you Californians don't take too much.. offense.. 😉
