So FUN! :) Cannot wait for the next episodes! Also, I am sure this has already been brought up or requested, but I would love to see your reaction to Sense and Sensibility with Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson! It's so lovely and would provide such a GOOD Willoughby reaction lol <3

My toddler was throwing twigs and stones into that lake just a couple of weeks ago

On the whole “how much is £X in modern money” question, a direct translation gives some hints but it's a fair bit more complex than that given how the economy of the place worked, and also the rather vague numbers the books give. This video offers a good explanation for how Mr. Darcy isn't just rich by modern standards, but basically fantabulously top-tier rich even by the standards of the era: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thqY3020vH8

More Austentatiousness, we love to see it. Firstly I saw Paula looking up about the Lake District before, it’s located in Cumbria, in the north east of England, just north of Lancashire (Liverpool, Manchester etc). Our trio are currently in Derbyshire, some might call it North East, some might call it East Midlands. If it’s actually in the Peak District that’s literally just across the border from Sheffied in South Yorkshire. I’m sure you’ll remember those views of Sheffield and it’s surroundings from The Woman Who Fell to Earth, very similar right? Another couple of small connections I forgot to mention before, I believe Pemberley was also in Red Dwarf, it was Lister’s mansion in Timeslides! Also Wickham (Adrian Lukis) played the evil scientist in Cured (Lister & Hitler’s jamming session) and he’s going to be in the UNIT spin-off show, coming out next year, hope that wasn’t a spoiler for you! I hope I don’t disappoint you when I say the lake scene was thought up by Andrew Davies the scriptwriter. I think he put it in as a bit of levity at that moment and obviously had no idea how it would become the most talked about thing from this version. I loved all the talk about letting your emotions show and, in regards to this, I think it’s that Lizzie also sees how much Darcy cares for someone else, in Georgiana, and is very protective of her. Also I was diagnosed with Autism a couple of years ago and I’ve learnt a lot since about masking and trying to project a certain version of yourself in unfamiliar situations. I supposed we all to that, to some degree, we’ve all got different parts of ourselves we show at different times and being at home in one’s own space we probably feel able to be our most authentic selves. I know I certainly do and I guess Darcy does as well. I’ve really gained a deeper understanding of this story than before, thank you so much for that. Unexpected but very welcome. Here’s hoping for more pearls of wisdom in the next two weeks! All the very best Chris
