Randy is Jeff’s best friend who Jackie kept pushing Shauna to date (she wanted double dates because she didn’t want to be alone with Jeff)… and that leads me to: I don’t think Jackie actually loved Jeff at all, especially if their first scene is as an example. She looks uncomfortable the entire time and the way she’s brushing her teeth heavily immediately after says a lot.
