The only logical explanation for that specific lapse in common sense from Gai is that Konoha truly was, as Orochimaru put it, seduced by peace time. Kakashi himself was an absolute mess before he got his team, and it took until his team got split by the Sanin that he decided, shit, I need to train myself back up to what I was before. It wasn't until Pain's assault that he genuinely lost an encounter, being a prodigy his whole life, and he even got a second chance at life after that. It's worth remembering that the worst opponent Kakashi ever faced before Pain was Orochimaru, and he SPARED Kakashi TWICE. It took a literally resurrection and the razing of Konoha for Kakashi to train up his chakra levels until he could consistently use Kamui, and that was critical to the fight BEFORE Obito's spirit gave him an unrestrained Mangekyou.

I don't deny Gai's abilities. I mean he is a physical monster and this is shown in the series, can you imagine how dangerous it would have been if she used a nintaijutsu style? it had after all the lightning element My problem with gai...is that he doesn't seem to take things into account. I am a firm believer that a person should know when to fight and when not to. When he let Lee fight Gaara after seeing the failure of the first lotus in my opinion he lost my respect. Lee couldn't prove that he is a great ninja if he wasn't alive. Dead he was of no use My problem with the gay students, rather with all the teams, is that they are too specialized. Neji and Hinata should have learned more things. With a weapon like a bow they could kill a target from a distance. or even shoot a arrow with a seal capable of replicating the shadow clone shuriken but with arrows armed with explosive tags. Lee I'm not going to say anything but he could be an expert in taijutsu and in the use of weapons like a tonfa or a bo staff. And those can be given seals that can briefly use an elemental ability. as an example And Tenten...gods Tenten, can you imagine how dangerous she would have been with any element combined with a knowledge of weapons? If she had any element she could have turned her into a weapons specialist who uses elemental chakra with them. like fire or lightning. I don't think she has any wind and the water wouldn't have been useful. But those two elements would have turned her into a complete beast.

One of the best arguments that can be made in Guy's favor is that he himself is a fully competent shinobi, not just in taijutsu, but also summoning turtles (which by extension means access to turtle ninjutsu), immunity to genjutsu (he was able to counter Itachi's gaze by watching his FEET and predicting all movements), and weapons training, which likely includes some elemental release. He also probably wouldn't have gone as far as he has in his shinobi career if he was incapable of being strategic and adaptive, which his training episodes have shown him to be. As a final note, Atsui is actually a CHUNIN when he shows up in the story, which means he either simply couldn't make it as tokubetsu jonin, or he was considered for Jonin, but promptly proved himself to be too hotheaded! As for his students, well that's because Kishimoto purposefully designed them with the flaw of crippling over-specialization. Neji has been noted by many fans to pull out a kunai or explosive tag when he required it, but his loss to Naruto was entirely because he never imagined his taijutsu and juken to be countered by Bijuu chakra. Lee is stuck with overspecialization for his whole life, meanwhile Tenten is a genius with tools and strings from what we saw in the first test of the exams, but she just didn't have elemental skills on par with Temari. All 3 of them were stronger than the genin of Naruto's year, but it's worth remembering, they were still genin.

you make it very exciting hell you have Taki I think Fuu should end up being trained by Naruto somehow. The Jinchuriki in my opinion were not well trained throughout history which is bullshit. Only with potential arcs you have three movies: the one about the gelel stone, Tsuki no Kuni and the one about Yuki no Kuni Gods this story excites me. It's been a long time since a Naruto story excited me so much.

SkulduggeryHaven

Thanks. I'm excited to get to some of the later parts that I've got planned. I don't want to spoil too much, but there are definitely big changes coming after the fight. There's still quite a bit to get through before we reach Shippuden.

I will never understand some of the promotions and believe me I have a hard time understanding them. In the case of Atsui or Gai, they don't seem like the type of people you would trust with a future position. Atsui is a hothead and as for Gai...do I need to mention how poorly trained his students are? I can see Ei worried Point one: An Uzumaki Jinchuriki (with whatever Minato throws into the mix because I refuse to believe he's a civilian) who is quickly learning to master the power of his strongest Biju Point two: Akatsuki be a threat to two of his strongest shinobi. one of them his brother. and well Yugito is an important kunoichi so I don't see him happy to sacrifice her Gods, your story is very exciting and it fills me with interest for the next chapter.

SkulduggeryHaven

Yeah, Atsui's definitely a hot head that shouldn't have been chosen for the mission. He's newly promoted and can't really handle delicate situations yet. Ay's not going to be very happy with him after the mission, but he's going to be more focused on other issues.

savitar

Seriously, do they make jonin out of all the idiots who are simply incapable of stopping and thinking for a moment? Naruto and Bee fighting promises to be fun, both of them are going to receive the beating of their lives, maybe Atsui will get reprimanded for being an idiot?

Hersh Jobanputra

I'm excited

SkulduggeryHaven

We're not getting into Fuinjutsu territory just yet I'm afraid, although, it is going to be playing a good part in a few arcs I've got planned for Shippuden.

Hersh Jobanputra

hmmm...looking forward to the fight. Maybe Naruto will use some fuinjutsu? Five element seal?
