Ok, soooo Made in Abyss has a very unique and intriguing premise. The necessary elements and plot make it a VERY good show. BUT sometimes it’s hard to look past the unnecessary parts. The mangaka is clearly a pedo. It has tons of “referee” moments all involving children. If the characters weren’t 12 OR if the sexual sh*t was removed I’d recommend it to everyone; because as a fantasy, horror, survival, series it is absolutely stunning. It’s worth checking out if you look past some of the content… so just a fair warning.

It's an incredibly beautiful anime - in scenes and sounds. Not for the faint of heart though. Well worth a watch. One of my favorites.

Fun fact: Both the 1st opening as well as the ending were sung by the VAs of Riko and Reg, the two main characters. The second opening's singer, coincidentally, is also named Riko. There is also an ending for the second season called "Endless Embrace" by MYTH & ROID.
