the stigma behind 'we are the flash' line is mainly the comic-book fandom haha, outside of the justice league barry is a hero who's capable of doing most things solo and isn't dependent on anyone to help him guide through missions. essentially (in the comics) HE IS the flash because he's the one on field, he's the one in charge. This obviously isn't how its adapted in the show, the series is a more team-based thing and there's just a lot of people in the flash fandom who haven't really come to terms with that lol. I love the comics, but I also love the show as its own thing! (however there is one moment in the comics where the 'we are the flash' line is dropped, but in that scenario it's literally a team of speedsters, known as the 'flash family').

Your right that he did do it in season 1 (tidal wave) but no one knows about it considering he time traveled to before it happened. I hope that made sense
