Yeah it most likely happened happened cause of flashpoint. But im reality it's probably a writting and continuty error. When they first wrote the line in season one they probably just wanted to make a reference and didn't expect to introduce Ralph later on. At least the show is self aware and makes fun of themselves.

when Ralph was kidding about why didn't Barry time travel to save him from Devoe. He said I'm kidding, maybe if he did I would have died in the first particle accelerator explosion. If you remember in S1, Harrison Wells said to that meta with lightning powers that he knows the name of everyone that died from that particle accelerator explosion and regrets it. One of the names he mentioned was Ralph Dibny. So, maybe one of the times that Barry time traveled after that he really changed the timeline and prevented Ralph from dying.

Season 5 hype! This season is super underrated imo. How can people not like it. It has nora, time travel, and a ongoing mystery. It definitely does give me season one vibes.

i dont know if there is a comic book connection but cameron mahkent is an anti hero dc character from the justice society of america known as icicle. so caitlin's dad death certificate was signed off from a guy with same name as a villian with ice based powers. shit just blew my mind. i got this info from watching dc stargirl which that show also features a different version of the same jay garrick we know.
