I think Wolf is telling Fox that he deserves the compliments. Fox seems to be brushing off the praise of the others and diminishing his own worth. Some people have a VERY hard time accepting praise for their accomplishments, even when it's deserved. I could be completely wrong though. Just going based off the description, what I see and what I've seen irl with people I know.
