It worked well I think. I bet writing everything neutrally and keeping it engaging and representative of your imagination for the story and scenes is a challenge. On a related note of rampant curiosity, was the hoodie ALL she was wearing? The sweater teasingly extends beyond the visible sprite, leaving it mostly to the player's imagination, and there was that apron situation later on, between that and really only mentioning the sweater in the text I just kinda figured maybe... unless I missed something...

I know what you mean. I tried to use a sweater feeling it was the most gender neutral clothing I could do right now. When it gets time to do the CGs...it should be interesting trying to keep it gender neutral.

Just wanted to say I tried the game and think that it's pretty well done and engaging so far! Cynthia is cute and she seems like an interesting character already. It's a small feature to some perhaps, but I appreciate being able to essentially choose a gender to play as via inputting a custom player name and the text being fairly neutral at least in Chapter 1 so far. If I may be particular for a moment, there's a part of me that wishes it could be a firmer choice at the outset, and that would allow the text/dialog and even the nature of the scenes and future CGs etc. to be more tailored towards whether or not you were deciding to play as male or female (for example the types of clothing she borrows to wear or maybe some of the comments about what she finds lying around the apartment when cleaning etc.) but I know that's almost doubling the amount of work, time and resources required to create the same scenes, and it doesn't help any for the folks that prefer to play games without choosing a specific gender like they are able to do with your current approach unless you added that as a third option.... thus making even more work out of everything.... but I think on the plus side it would add some more realism to the scenarios and allow you to approach the same scene from potentially different viewpoints at times too (how a male might be expected to react to a certain event vs. another female, etc. etc.) But don't worry or anything about that, it's just my personal preference/wishlist and opinion. It didn't detract from my ability to enjoy the game as it is, and I appreciate how it has been carefully designed and written to allow for the player to fill in the blanks themselves as needed too. Thanks for sharing about it here, and congratulations on reaching the completion of Chapter 1! I'm looking forward to following along with its progress in the future too. Oh and just FYI in case you weren't aware, you have it listed as being for PC and Mac on your page, but your download for the PC version also includes the .sh file, which means it runs perfectly well on Linux too :) Ren'py is awesome like that.

Thank you very much for posting this. It's been a lot of fun to work on both MA and this new one. MA always comes first, of course, but I'm going to be trying to get new chapters done as quickly as possible and all the chapters will be available for free. Patreons just get to play the next chapter a week earlier than everyone else. You know, the usual patreon thing haha Thank you very much to anyone that checks it out.
