Funny thought I had; you know those really, really fluffy guinea pigs? Imagine a bunch of them in a row. (But yeah, your sketched shape does look a little more feline. I did think her natural tail looked, well, natural. So just making that thicker could well work.)

Teanam

Yeah, I feel the same, the idea is great, but it takes away the cat-feel a little. In another comment, I posted that idea here: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/872496682061951020/1030867284354412604/Maya_Black_copy.png I think that shape would work a little better. Still, maybe just making her regular tail slightly thicker might be the best, tho.

Love fluffy Maya, but her tail looks like that of a horse. It looks like the hairs all originate directly from her spine, instead of growing along the tail bone. Maine Coon tails look as fluffy as they are because their tail fur actually grows along the tail.

I have had cat's with VARY thick long fur, it's not too thin at the start of the tail but it is a thin at the tip of the tail. and One thing you should also remember is that even vary thick long furred cats shed and in fact they shed like MAD so in winter they are SUPER FLOOFY in summer not really all that floofy

Teanam

Absolutely fair~ The next illustration will have the "normal" thin tail, as well.

Yeah, I think that tail adjustment would help, and I do think it's a very pretty, well drawn tail, that suits her very well. I am just attached to our sleek, thin tailed Maya too much to not resist the change at least a little bit. πŸ˜‹

Maybe I'll also try a "wilder" hairstyle that goes with the slightly different ears instead of the tail, who knows~

I get the "complaints" Maya's been Maya since forever, after all. (Hairstyle aside). Her design is also the "typical" cat-girl. (Pointy ears and thinner tail) It's just that I came up with Sophia and Maya before the story even had real shape, and all the newer characters look so much more fleshed out. That's why I gave Sophia the biggest makeover with the fall clothes, and I don't want Maya to be boring, either... I'm also not sure if I keep the tail floofy. This illustration mainly happened because my artist here had 2 weeks free and I wanted to see floof xD If we see more of this tail, it will definitely get some more tweaks, though. For example, the thinner base and tip I mentioned. Maybe like this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/872496682061951020/1030867284354412604/Maya_Black_copy.png

I did notice that as well. A case of the vocal minority vs the silent majority I suppose. Either way is fine, I think both look very good. It'll just take a bit of getting used to if the floof becomes the new go to in art. Gonna have a lot of moments of "why does Maya's tail look differe- oh right. Sophia's floof experiment."

Teanam

It's interesting how the vote is in clear favor of the new one, but most of the comments are aginst it xD

I always like a good floof, but it just doesn't feel like "Maya" to me. Maybe I've just gotten used to her normal tail or something, but I unfortunately will be voting against floof. 😒

thkiw

we must accept not everyone is floof. such is life.

Original Maya best Maya

ImaginarySmasher

I'd like to floof but I prefer old Maya more.

Vesperal

May the floof be with you! ❀️

Hmm, I hadn't thought about canines yet. I feel it's different enough for that. Their tails are usually shorter, and the fur's not that long, I guess? Some tweaking with the size/width would probably be good, yeah.

Azareck

I like it, but it looks a bit too canine-ish if that makes sense.
