Ways of distributing "media"

Because of their stupid app that everyone hates, anyway, they're going to scrap the "Pay at the 1st of the month" option. Only the subscription option will be offered soon-ish.
That's the one where you join on day X and then get billed again a month later instead of on the 1st of the following month. In theory, that's more consumer-friendly because you always get the full month, no matter when you join, but that also means you'll get billed by Patreon multiple times a month if you support multiple creators, which seems like a mess for watching your spending habits.
On top of that, it sucks for a lot of content creators that have monthly rewards because they can't keep track of who's supposed to get a reward and who's not.
Even worse, creators will lose their fixed monthly income at the start of the month and get dribble payments all over the month.
Fortunately, that's not much of an issue for me because I do not do monthly rewards, and I'm not dependent on the money. After all, all of it is spending-money for art.
The only real immediate issue for me will be Discord. The Patreon Discord bot is broken and doesn't remove the member roles from people if their pledge runs out. Right now, I simply remove/reapply the roles once at the start of the month and be done with it. In the future, I'll have to do that multiple times to make sure everything's in order.

Now to the actual issue, though!
Patreon blames Apple for having to make this change. They say they have to do this in order to offer Subscriptions through their App, as Apple says subscriptions have to run a fixed amount of time.
Which is a lie, but lets ignore that.
Everyone hates the app, anyway, so simply not offering subscriptions through it in the first place would be the best for anyone, but Patreon thinks otherwise.

So, why am I complaining if it barely affects us?
Patreon caved into Apple's demand to change its billing system.
(Well, I'm sure they just use it as an excuse to force the subscription billing because that's what they've been doing ever since coming up with it, but that's a different topic.)
I'm sure most of you know what Apple's opinion on NSFW stuff is, right? Especially when it's on their App-Store.
It's almost guaranteed that it's going to be banned entirely soon after that.

So, what do we do about the horny around here?
The main reward has always been the advanced chapters, and the spicy art grew and became a part over time, but it might be time to think about returning back to SFW on Patreon.
The horny is great fun, though, and I don't want to give up on it, either.
A viable option might be to remove it from Patreon and host it somewhere else. I'll make sure everyone on Patreon can look at it for free, though. It will still be in a similar fashion as the Google Drive/Photos links, just that there won't be a post with the link on Patreon anymore. I have yet to think of the best way of how to inform everyone that there's something new and give them the link.
Option 1: I'll send an E-Mail to everyone. (I can see the E-Mail everyone uses on Patreon)
Issues: Not everyone watches their E-Mails, especially when used just for creating an account here. A lot of work on my part. Lack of engagement. Will be extra complicated for new users to get the old links. Also, I'm not sure about the legal side of simply sending NSFW links to "random" E-Mails xD. As well as people simply not wanting lewd stuff emailed.
Option 2: Discord. We already have a server, and I could just use a channel to post the art. There even would be a place to discuss things. I would much prefer this because it would be the least amount of work for everyone while also being the most convenient.
Issues: Not everyone uses/has Discord. Is horny stuff enough reward to create an account?
If anyone has other ideas, feel free to comment!
Regular/Cure and "reasonably" spicy art will still be accessible from here.

TL:DR: How would everyone feel about putting NSFW stuff away from Patreon? Either distributed via E-Mail or over Discord. Again, it will stay free for supporters regardless of what we decide on.

If you don't care where you get it from, as long as you do get it, please choose the Discord option, as this would be the most convenient for me xDD

This might be obvious, but be careful with the Emails. Make it so that when you do a message to everyone, the email address of one recipient is not visible to everyone else ^^

Well, there wouldn't be any NSFW content inside the mail, just a link to a folder, which you also had to open first and then clicking on the picture before seeing the goodies, but that's a valid point!

I would very much prefer the discord option. The email I have linked to my account is one that I sometimes (though not often) have to open at work. Meaning if I start getting NSFW emails that I could potentially misclick into, I would have to unsubscribe or lower my membership level to no longer receive them. Which would suck. (As much as I enjoy a Little horny bonus with my story, it's not worth the risk of getting fired over.) Alternatively I could go through the process of making a new email attach to Patreon, but at that point it's almost the same issue that you worried about with going to discord. (Making accounts just for this)

Even better is the part where Patreon is playing the victim even though they're doing the exact same thing. Collecting fees for offering a platform.

Every big tech company is currently getting sued over those practices (from governments, too) Anti monopoly and stuff, so it will soon be banned, anyway. One more reason I'm convinced Patreon's just using it as an excuse.

I wonder if anyone actually gets baited into buying thru app, since while I'm not certain but I'm fairly sure that patreon would have to mention that purchasing without using app is cheaper otherwise it would be against EU laws. And EU can certainly force patreon to obey, considering that it did force Apple xD

I don't think the app has been a thing that long yet and mobile purchases outside the app aren't affected by the 30% extra.

Well, the E-Mail would come from my personal account, soo... Also, I'm convinced it's Patreon just using Apple as an excuse. After all, many apps don't offer Subscriptions inside their app for this very reason. Like Netflix or Spotify.

Probably, so far at least on my main email that patreon is linked to whatever comes specifically from patreon does not go into spam, tho I don't get any notification for such emails, since they aren't marked as important. And I would not be surprised this is apple trying to milk patreon for more money in direct concequince of apple being sued for breaking EU laws

Discord would be preferable, and there is no downside to anyone in creating a discord account if by some miracle they don't have it yet. For me personally NSFW art would likely auto default into spam on email as well

Absolutely, I don't want to talk down the benefit for supporters of getting more for their money and being able to get a full month whenever they join. The only "downside" for consumers would be having 15 different bills from Patreon every month if supporting more creators at the same time. It's just that many creators will have issues with that and have to redo their entire way of doing things and handing out rewards. I don't really have an issue with it. I just haven't made the switch yet because it comes with some inconveniences on my part.

And seriously, if you are just here for pron, then you can join discord and look at a patreon nsfw channel. I am here to support an author directly. The cute and nsfw art is just a bonus to me. It is nice to see what the characters look like

That will be a lot harder with the new forced subscription billing, though. Like, if a user joins on the 15th of a month, they either get nothing for half a month or could get two months' worth of links even though they only paid for one month. I also would need to distribute the link via E-Mail or Discord to keep it separate from Patreon.

You could also do the same as RavensDagger. He has a Google Drive repository to which he resends the Share link once a month. That works great.
