Well, since we never got a POV from Dumbledore in the canon, who knows what he really thought and felt. Was he manipulative? Absolutely. Did he know Harry's home life was going to suck? Yes, and I imagine he needed it to be bad because, at the end of the day, the kid had to kill himself. Harry was passively suicidal though out the story with a guilt, tossed in that didnt help when the headmaster pushed him with his great adventure ideas

if you want to make the Light/Dark Lord concept work, why not portray it as a power that one obtains from somewhere, and it gradually corrupts the person who possesses it? Instead of being born with this power, Albus could choose to take it, unaware of its full effects. As he meets Tom for the first time, have him realize that the power is changing him, leading him to burn his staff in an attempt to scare Tom. Show that Albus destroyed London to stop Dark Lord Grindelwald, driven by the influence of the Light Lord Power. Highlight the internal conflict within Albus, as the Light Lord Power urges him to kill Grindelwald, but his love and fear prevent him from doing so. Make it clear that he is afraid of what the Lord of Light is doing to him, and he searches for a way to rid himself of it. However, he discovers that he can only transfer the power to someone else, and he refuses to burden others with it. How about having Albus devise a plan to use Hogwarts Magic to tame the Light Power within him? He could take an oath that prohibits him from causing harm or casting dark magic on people at Hogwarts. This would prevent him from using mind arts or reading Harry's or Voldemort's minds. Nevertheless, the influence of the Light Lord Mantle would persist, tempting him to manipulate Neville into facing Voldemort. You can show Albus struggling against this influence and ultimately failing. These are just my ideas, and you should not feel obligated to follow them, as this is your story. However, please make sure that Albus Dumbledore is not portrayed as an incompetent Lord of Light, but rather as a well-developed character. Whether he is good or evil doesn't matter, but it should be something meaningful, as at the moment, you are not doing a good job. P.S. Regarding why Albus Dumbledore did not go to Albania to find Voldemort, let's say that he cannot leave Hogwarts for an extended period of time because the Lord of Light's power overwhelms him.

It seems to be more like sentient manipulating/guiding spirits that direct their chosen champion to a path beneficial to their conflict. The Jedi/Sith were more opposing philosophies that had very real psychological and mystical implications and consequences.

Is the light reference similar to “Force” from Star Wars? And the light side (Jedi) & dark side (Sith) use it the same way in your story?

Fernzyyyy

I really hate Machiavellian character types.

One interesting possibility is that light means order/peace and chaos/freedom means dark magic. In this case those who want freedom tend to become dark because they have no limit s on their magic while those who demand order tend to stay light but weaker. In principle then Lucius would be a light mage!

Thanks for the chapter

Chris

Wow a Dumbledore POV. This is an AU so it's interesting to see the changes from canon.
