Think it is Canon otherwise there'd be no reason Harry couldn't withdraw

That's fine, To be honest, I need to look up stuff all the time to avoid making plot holes. The story had gotten really big and it's pretty hard to keep every small detail in mind. I specifically remember this one because I made the conscious decision to alter something for this story.

Goblet of Fire wasn't used in this alternate version. And besides, my memory isn't clear on that one, but isn't the whole "lose yo magic" the fanon thing, rather than canon? I might be wrong, but either way there's definitely no such thing here.

Callum Runchman

Ah fairs. Honestly it's hard to keep track of everything small detail like that but I suppose it makes sense to not binding children in such a way. Can't wait to see what the Greek challlenge is as whilst I've seen other stories do similar things to each other I'm not sure you would as well. Either way should be good and am excited for it

Deal with the Devil huh? Free boost to fame for Eddie if Harry is going to impersonate him in the task

Thanks for pointing it out. I just made a few quick edits. I wrote this during multiple breaks and I didn't really have any time to re-read it. Please let me know if I missed anything else, or if there's something I forgot to edit.

Thanks for pointing it out, it should be fixed now.

The person’s smile widened, “Because you’re in a position to hurt him as well.” This should be help no??

Just one nitpick: there's IMO a slight inconsistency with the money figures. If his parents earned 200 galleons each then 10000 would be just 2 years worth of their total income: probably not really a small fortune (even if certainly a godsend in his situation) and probably not enough to set all 3 of them for all that long. It might be just my opinion though. Also, at the beginning you wrote that his parents barely met the ends meet, and later on that they were quite well off. Which seems like a collision of statements. Other than that, a solid chapter.

Isn't the task the sixth one not the fifth?

I think I specifically said in one of the older chapters that the contract was legally enforceable, not magically. The most Eddie could get by breaking the contract is a fine, which his parents would have been forced to pay (if they weren't dead) and McGonagall could technically make it so someone has to compete or something, as long as they still haven't competed once. Eddie was just afraid of another fine added on top of his debt. Forcefully binding someone's magic is kinda ill-thought and illegal. For example, the contract that Eddie signed in this chapter is illegal since it's magically enforceable. I never really liked the idea of people willy-nilly making contracts that threatened people's lives. It's a big deal and I wanted to treat it as such.

Callum Runchman

Wait isn't the tournament legally binding? As in lose your magic if you fail to fulfil the contract of competing in at least 1 task. This would leave Eddie an orphaned magicless squib at the end of the 5th task who's supposed to be responsible for 2 younger sisters. Surely harry isn't that cruel to do something like that to a person who's done nothing to him
