My Hero Automata (Ch 59-61)
🕑 Added 2024-03-15 17:48:05 +0000 UTCAlright! Another 7,000 words of My Hero Automata! Unlike usual, this is the smaller of the two releases for Automata this month, the release on the 1st having been something like 10,600 words. It just happened to work out that way, because that release happened to contain one of the major climactic moments I'd envisioned from the start (Spoiler: That a certain death occurred). This release, on the other hand, starts the transition into the next arc of the story. Going any farther than I did would have put us fully into said arc, without enough time to really dig into it. Hence stopping where I did. It still means I total size this month of around 17,500 words though, so well within the 15-20k range that is the monthly target for this work.
There are no really big revelations this time, as most of this is relatively light content that shows a bit more training, the start of Work Studies, and the first hints of Eri's arc. There is a question that I want to put to people, though. Specifically, how many (if any) of you are hoping for Jirou to join Momo and Izumi? She's the only character I've seriously considered adding to the pairing. Mostly, I have to admit, because I totally ship her and Momo in the series in general...
*cough*
Yeah. So, I hadn't actually decided one way or another, but I'd been trying to set her up as at least a friend to them. It just...hasn't quite been clicking. If there is significant interest in seeing it happen, I'll keep poking it to see if I can make it click. But, if people would genuinely prefer to see this as strictly a Momo/Izumi pairing, then I might just drop the attempt. So far it just hasn't been clicking quite right. But, mostly, that's been because I've been having a hard time getting them to be in the same place at the same time with it actually making sense. That will be easier going forward, for reasons that should be obvious post chapter 60.
Anyway, I'm actively seeking feedback on that. To see which way people would prefer it. Other than that, though...just enjoy the update! As always, the new stuff is attached here in both PDF and Epub formats, and the Master Files in the Pinned Post will be updated shortly.

:-p. I personally like the phrase Momo's momos. But I didn't want to repeat the A/N explaining the joke every time. Without that, it would probably confuse a lot of people.

I'm happy Midnight is calling her stidents minions again. A bit sad that Izumi's recharge docking station is now called Momo's breasts instead of Momo's momos. I thought it was cute.

As far as I know, the recharging thing is original to me ;-). It's possible, of course, that someone else has come up with it. But I've never seen it elsewhere in MHA fiction either. Which honestly surprises me, since it seems like even in canon it should have been super obvious. Izuku can't actually USE all of One for All. So transferring it back to All Might for like, a couple of days a month, should have been a simple solution to keeping All Might's embers going. Given he can't even use it at max anyway, there's zero chance Izuku would run his copy of the embers down in just a few days. While All Might would likely be recharged back up to his max in that time, with it only starting it's drain again once he transferred it back to Izuku. I'm assuming it's a case of 'the author didn't want to do the obvious thing, because it would have taken the impact out of parts of the story.'

If Jirou joins the relationship or doesn't, I'm fine with it either way. Not about these specific chapters: I like that the MC found a way to let Allmight recharge his quirk. I'm hoping she eventually finds a way to heal him as well. This is the first time I've ever read the quirk recharging idea and I think I've only read one or two other stories that heal Allmight.
