In this case that was entirely the result of how long it had been since I worked on the fic, as well as some adjustments I decided to make. I needed to do a lot of double checking to make sure I was remembering bits and pieces right for the first part. As for the adjustments...
Given that this fic struggled in the polls to get updated, despite being one of the oldest and longest running fics I write, I revaluated it a bit. Previously, I'd estimated that I needed 6-8 updates to finish it entirely. Frankly, the chances of it getting that many updates anytime soon didn't seem likely. As a result, I sat down and made some tweaks. My Hero Automata always had the smallest amount of time skipping in any of my stories, usually no more than a week or two at a time and often not even that long. By engaging in some longer time skips (a month or two at a time) and paring down a few elements like the peeks into the Heroics and Guild operations, I've cut it down a fair bit. I now think that I can probably end the story within 3-4 updates, including this one.
I'm not entirely happy about doing that, as it's going to cause the later bits of the story to feel a bit accelerated and rushed. On the other hand, I won't rush it too much, and getting the story finished will give all my other works better odds in the poll, as I don't intend to introduce another to replace it there. Hopefully, this also encourages people to actually vote for Automata, as it will wrap the story up faster if it wins a few times without needing huge vote boosts.
Anyway! This release is just shy of 14,700 words, so pretty on target size wise, and pushes several elements of the story forward more rapidly. As always, the new chapters are attached here in various formats. While you can find the Master Files containing the entire story in the Pinned Post. I'll also be adding author's notes when I have time to do so! Enjoy the first update of My Hero Automata in a while!

You're not wrong :-). Character interaction and worldbuilding are generally the things I'm best at. While combat is where I'm weakest. Still, it is what it is, sadly.

Thank you for the update, it's great to see the characters again. It's sad to have to rush things a bit since I feel like the writing of fun interpersonal dynamics is one of your strongest abilities. Then again, I'd probably read a full length story just focusing on A2 being adorably awkward around her fans.

Glad you liked it :-). I admit, I can't stop picturing a group of fans following A2 around as she slowly starts walking faster and faster to try and escape them. Mentally thinking 'can't run, they'll know I'm prey!'

Such a good chunk of content🤤😋 Loved the A2 fanboy/fangirling that seems to be going on, adorable to think of super tsun(for an android) A2 getting adoring looks from a bunch of boys and girls in uniform😆 ...I try not to think to hard on the Aussie chappys, brrrrr 🥶
