i agree, it made it feel to me like nothing happened at all. because you never get into a flow of watching. definitely one of the worst episodes in this arc for me.

I completely agree about 986. The whole thing is a direction nightmare. There was almost no music throughout the whole thing, even though Apoo has a music ability! The rap was weirdly spaced out instead of being quick and snappy…you know, like rap is supposed to be, and that Queen face… I remember the first time I saw that episode, Queen’s shot literally made me do a double take, it was so off-model! Definitely one of the worst episodes of One Piece direction-wise, even though the animation was pretty good, the awkward pacing made it feel like a jigsaw puzzle forced together the wrong way.

I strongly agree with your feelings on 986. It's all over the place, the direction is pretty bad and it just doesn't flow. Honestly the weirdest thing to me is Kidd making that weird ass face to Apoo, clearly intending to go after him, and when we see him next he just walks away only to THEN go after Apoo?? What the hell is that shit

I remember when ep 986 released. A lot of people shared your feelings on it, they had a great chance to some cool and creative directing but a lot of it sadly felt sluggish, awkward, and flat. Ironic for an episode about Apoo the high-energy MUSIC man
