I feel like it has shifted gears a bit from the beginning of the show. When I first heard the summary of the manga I thought it was going to be really sad and depressing, but after the first few episodes it moved past that. It wasnt about being sad all the time, but we do still get some bittersweet reflective or regretful moments. And now with this exam arc, its nearing what you might call shonen. But I appreciate it isnt too silly or too shouty and contrastly not too serious or mature. Its a nice natural feeling point for me.

I feel like its not a slice of life, but a chunk of life (scoop of life?) A slice of life in larger time scale. Instead of everyday life its almost more like life events or periods of life.
