Considering the last question, I could be wrong as I am still very much a novice in learning Japanese but I think the reader’s question about the friendly release command is tied to honorifics and the forms of Japanese language depending on relationships. To command someone is to posses an elevated position in a social or professional relationship and since our Afro friend can’t do that he’s resorted to a more informal, conversational tone. I think it’s one of those questions and answers that carries particular context and meaning in Japanese culture.
